About the Role
We are looking for a Product Security Engineer 4 (P40) to design, build, and own software across our security platform. You will develop and maintain the systems that power inventory collection and enrichment, cloud data storage and orchestration, distributed scanning infrastructure, and the applications and integrations that consume and present security data.
You will work as a strong software engineer in the product security space: writing and reviewing code (Python, JavaScript/React, Java/C++) designing APIs and data pipelines, and improving the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of our platform. You will collaborate with product, infrastructure, and other engineering teams to ship features and evolve our architecture.
Software Architecture & Design
· Define and evolve the technical architecture for platform components: data pipelines, cloud services, orchestration layer, and dependent applications.
· Design scalable, observable systems with clear boundaries, robust error handling, and operational visibility (logging, metrics, tracing).
· Participate in design reviews and technical deep dives; influence choices around data models, APIs, and integration patterns across teams.
· Design and implement platform components with secure-by-default principles, including strong input validation, trust boundary enforcement, and safe handling of user-controlled data.
· Consider attacker misuse cases during implementation and reviews.
Development & Engineering
· Backend and automation — Build and maintain Python services, scripts, and automation that power inventory collection, data processing, and scanning workflows; integrate with internal and third-party APIs.
· APIs and integrations — Design and implement REST APIs, webhooks, and integration points; ensure clear contracts, versioning, and reliable error handling.
· Frontend and tooling — Contribute to or own React-based UIs and internal tools that visualize and manage security data; ensure responsive, maintainable code.
· Cloud and data — Work with Azure (or similar) services: SQL databases, blob storage, virtual networks, and compute; write efficient queries and data access patterns.
· CI/CD and quality — Improve build, test, and deployment pipelines; advocate for automated testing, code review, and dependency management.
Reliability & Operations
· Improve reliability and operability of platform services: health checks, graceful degradation, retries, and runbooks.
· Triage and debug production issues; contribute to incident response and post-incident follow-up when services you own are affected.
· Partner with infrastructure and SRE teams on capacity, performance, and cost for the systems you build.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Mentorship
· Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to scope features, clarify requirements, and deliver on roadmap priorities.
· Mentor and support other engineers through code review, pair programming, and sharing best practices.
· Communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· 8+ years of experience in software development, with substantial work on backend systems, APIs, or full-stack applications in cloud-native or distributed environments.
· Strong proficiency in Python (services, scripts, automation) and comfort with JavaScript/React for frontend or tooling; ability to write clean, maintainable code and thorough tests.
· Proven experience designing and operating systems on Azure (or AWS/GCP): relational databases, blob/object storage, virtual networks, and compute.
· Solid understanding of API design (REST, webhooks), data modeling, and network fundamentals (HTTP, auth, firewalls, SSH where relevant to your services).
· Experience driving technical design and code quality (reviews, testing, refactoring) within a team or across teams.
· Strong communication, collaboration, and prioritization skills; ability to work independently and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience building or operating orchestration and worker systems (task queues, distributed jobs, master–worker patterns).
· Hands-on experience with data pipelines, scheduled jobs, or integration with external APIs (e.g., DNS, inventory, or recon data sources).
· Familiarity with modern web frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Express) and search/analytics backends (e.g., Elasticsearch) in production.
· Experience in product security, application security, or security tooling as the domain you build software for.
· Cloud certifications (e.g., Azure, AWS) or equivalent depth.
· Open-source contributions or technical blog posts on software design, APIs, or distributed systems.
· Experience building or integrating systems using LangGraph or comparable agentic AI orchestration frameworks is a plus.
