Summary  

Responsible for performing inspections and tests of Computational assemblies, subassemblies, cables, circuit cards, machined parts, optics, coatings/finishes and other materials to ensure compliance to drawings, schematics, and specification requirements.  Reviews first article reports, performance data, test results and material certifications for compliance. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position requires a willingness to consistently apply mechanical, optical & electrical Inspection concepts.  

  • Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, and product specifications. 

  • Understands measurement precision, measurement accuracy & measurement uncertainty. 

  • Experienced using standard measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, & height gages. 

  • Experienced in interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. 

  • Identifies and reports nonconforming materials. 

  • Understands and applies calibration intervals to inspection tools and equipment. 

  • Understands disposition methods including rework/repair, re-inspect, scrap, and customer waiver, as determined by a Material Review Board (MRB) or other authority. 

  • Supports internal manufacturing and external source inspection of products. 

  • Familiar with national and international standards (ISO9001, AS9100, IPC610, IPC620) and customer requirements as authorities that support processes and procedures used to ensure quality products. 

  • Familiar with Inspection of welds and compliance with internal weld qualifications. 

  • Attends training and continuous professional development events. 

  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role at the discretion of the Manager. 

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements  

  • High-school diploma or GED 

  • Knowledge of First Article Inspection procedures 

  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) 

  • Attention to detail with importance placed on follow-up / follow-through 

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize the work while responding to changing priorities 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.  

Preferred Skills  

  • 4-6 years’ experience in inspection and testing of incoming and manufactured products; Computational assemblies, subassemblies, cables, circuit cards, machined parts, optics, coatings/finishes and other materials to ensure compliance to drawings, schematics, and specification requirements 

  • Experience with precision measuring equipment  

  • Certified Weld Inspector 

  • Experience with data analysis and statistical tools 

  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector certification 

  • Higher Education in Electronics, Mechanical Design, Computer Science 

Security Responsibilities  

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.   

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.  

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.
