Who We Are
The Research Information Systems Department, also known as MAESTRO, supports the mission of Sponsored Research Services (SRS) through development, implementation, and maintenance of the Maestro enterprise information system. This system supports researchers across The Texas A&M University System. By maintaining and improving Maestro, our employees serve a critical role in advancing the university's research goals.
What We Want
The Product Manager is responsible for defining the product vision and strategy for multiple complex Maestro components, serving as Product Owner and subject matter expert for Research Administration and TAMUS system processes. The position develops and maintains a prioritized Agile backlog, assesses client needs and business processes, and establishes documentation and accessibility standards to support system compliance and improvement.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Seven years of related experience in product ownership, project management or research administration.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Research Administrator (CRA)
Project Management Certification (ACP/ PMP or similar)
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO or PSPO)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Agile project management experience and client relations.
Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships with others.
Responsibilities
Product Owner - Is responsible for defining product vision and strategy and plays the role of product owner for multiple complex Maestro components and advocates for changes. Develops and maintains a comprehensive and prioritized backlog, leveraging Agile principles and best practices. Coordinates the assessment of client needs through direct interaction, mapping current and future business processes, and looking for opportunities to develop and improve the business through effective use of technology. Establishes the standards and processes used to review and analyze documentation in accordance with audit requirements using Confluence. Responsible for accessibility, user interface design, guiding product development, and market research administration systems. Serves as a Subject Matter Expert for Research Administration and the TAMUS system.
Project Manager - Manages a project team, project resources in conjunction with resource holders and other project managers where the problem and solutions are less defined and difficult to achieve. Creates detailed project plans, monitors project milestones, generates periodic status reports, evaluates and manages risk. Ensures that RIS projects meet all the requirements for Texas Administrative Code for IT Projects and ensures that major information resources projects are reported in accordance with regulations and RIS project management standards. Conducts meetings with stakeholders to schedule and coordinate project activities. Ensures that meeting minutes are stored in a consistent location in accordance with audit requirements.
User Training and Support - Plans, coordinates and conducts training for end-users as needed. Serves as the point of contact for customers and RIS and SRS staff with routing questions or requests. Oversees the troubleshooting and analysis of problems and processes across multiple functional areas.
Quality Assurance - Establishes testing standards and procedures. Coordinates, plans and executes the testing of Maestro components across multiple functional areas and oversees the testing assignments.
Leadership - Schedules and delegates routine assignments to employees. Manages relationships with key clients and vendors Participates and coordinates in training and professional development.
