The Role: The Morningstar Data & Research Solutions group is looking for a Product Manager to define and lead the strategy, roadmap, and development of the API Center product. The API Center provides clients with direct access to Morningstar Data via a suite of API services. You will act as both product expert and strategist to translate market trends, customer needs, competitive intelligence, and Morningstar intellectual property into innovative data deliverables that solve customer problems, and you will evangelize those offerings both internally and externally. The Product Manager will incorporate the voice of the user and will work closely with development, design, marketing, sales, and support to decide on priorities for our roadmap creating a world-class experience for users.
The ideal candidate will have deep familiarity with Morningstar’s data and software offerings for various personas in the global asset and wealth management industry and the tools they use to manage their workflows. The candidate should also have a strong grasp of the current industry landscape, the ability to meaningfully contribute to go-to-market efforts, and a desire to drive growth and client success with strong partnerships with other functional teams.
Position Location: Chicago, IL (we follow a hybrid policy requiring 4 days onsite)
Responsibilities:
- Own the product development roadmap, prioritization, value proposition, and product development lifecycle for API Center.
- Provide dedicated business requirements for the product’s data, analytics, and workflow needs and prioritize conflicting work.
- Ensure product, operational, and customer service excellence through close coordination with Technology, Design, Client Service, and Operations teams.
- Contribute to sales-enablement and go-to-market planning.
- Work directly with product marketing, sales, and service to meet business and client deliverables within specified delivery dates.
- Demonstrate product capabilities to prospective clients, including functionality and methodology - serving as an expert for our internal stakeholders.
- Track and deliver against key performance indicators (KPIs) and measurements of product success (product revenue, product profitability, customer satisfaction, quality, cost implications, forecasts, etc.).
- Drive adoption of our newest product enhancements.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, computer science or related field is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant and progressive experience in technical software products, preferably with direct experience managing APIs or integration products.
- Ability to translate complex data concepts into clear, actionable product requirements.
- Deep knowledge of Morningstar data, products, and the markets they serve is preferred.
- Strong technical acumen and familiarity with API design, developer experience (DX), API documentation, and API management tooling.
- Excellent oral and written communication, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.

$95,275.00 - 161,975.00 USD Annual
