Grade Level (for internal use):
10The Team: You will be working with a team of individuals who are curious, collaborative, and critical thinkers. You will get to work with a dynamic and high-performing group consisting of Engineers, Designers, Commercial and client-facing teams who are all working towards enriching the Index offering and delivering cutting-edge benchmarking solutions to our clients. You will have plenty of opportunities to identify and define problem statements, take ownership of solutions, and deliver product enhancements from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives.
The Impact: The Index Product team, within S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Data & Research business line, is reshaping benchmarking solutions across Equity, Fixed Income, Commodity and other asset classes. In today’s business environment, the ability to leverage data when making an investment and holding decisions is no longer optional. Our products and data services enable these firms to aggregate information from disparate sources, interact with it, analyze results, and share those insights to drive decisions both internally and externally.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Product Manager to join the Index team in a meaningful role and help drive significant value-addition within client workflows.
Responsibilities: As a Product Manager, you will aim to understand what delivers value to our clients when they access Index product offerings and data. You will understand the end-users’ needs inside and out, comparative importance of those needs, and the dependencies that exist between those needs. Using this knowledge, you will:
• Have a fair understanding of Index data, various index-types across asset classes, competitive landscape of the index dataset and a fine hand on inhouse tools like Capital IQ Pro and Capital IQ platforms, excel plug-ins, Index web pages, etc.
• Develop a deep understanding across which/how S&P products/suites the Index data is delivered, like, Capital IQ Pro, Capital IQ, Price Viewer, SPICE, etc.
• Contribute to the 6-12 month product roadmap, based on a deep understanding of the vision, client requirements, S&P Global’s strategic priorities and the competitive landscape.
• Prioritize work: collaborate with business leaders and other internal stakeholders to balance the art and the science of feature prioritization. Use a data-driven approach to make decisions and fail fast when necessary.
• Review or define user stories and requirements within our SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle). Ensure that each feature is fully tested and meets the expectations of our users and clients.
• Lead and coach an agile development team. Oversee scrum teams, driving the team and yourself to continuously inspect, adapt, and improve in your collective ability to meet a high standard of delivery and quality.
• Support cross-functional teams. Work closely with Engineering, Testing, User Experience, Marketing, Implementation, and Commercial to advise, guide, and support these teams, to drive maximum business impact.
Who You Are:
• Enthusiastic. You are a team player who brings positive energy and inspiration to everything you do.
• A leader. You have a bias towards action, and you act on your great ideas. You are someone who sees solutions in problems, and you do something about it without being asked. You can coach others and bring the most out of peers/stakeholders.
• Quick learner. You understand that success comes from asking the right questions and coming prepared.
• Great communicator. You understand the difference between high and low-touch communication methods and when to use which approach. You can place yourself in our client’s shoes and relay their needs. You are someone who can communicate clearly and effectively to get your ideas across (both on meetings and in writing). You are someone who can inspire a team to turn your ideas into reality.
• Creative. You are an out-of-the-box thinker to drive new ideas and ways of solving problems.
• Independent Thinker. You have a willingness to defend your ideas and the wisdom to recognize a better one; someone who is not affected by strong opinions, only swayed by good ideas.
• Ownership & Accountability: You work with a high degree of ownership, accountability and commitment towards delivering high-quality results in an efficient manner.
What We Are Looking For:
• 4-7 years of total experience; at least 2 years of experience specifically in product ownership or technical product management roles. Prior experience working alongside scrum teams or people management highly preferred.
• Extensive experience with Index/Market Data offerings on Capital IQ Pro, Capital IQ platforms and respective excel plugins.
• Experience working with or analyzing large data sets and technologies that analyze, deliver and master data.
• Evidence of leadership skills and traits.
• Demonstrated prowess in stakeholder management.
• Evidence of thriving in a challenging, fast-paced, client-facing environment.
