Where would you fit? 

We’re looking for a Senior Product Owner to help reimagine how Australians interact with their retirement savings an initiative exploring new ways to make retirement banking simpler, faster, and more meaningful for everyday Australians.  

As Senior Product Owner, you’ll be at the heart of a team bringing innovation to one of Australia’s most important financial journeys retirement. Partnering with engineers, designers, and stakeholders across CommBank, x15, and the broader superannuation ecosystem, you’ll define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a new platform that empowers Australians to better understand, access, and manage their life savings.  

You’ll lead the end-to-end delivery of a new product proof-of-concept from discovery through to launch driving customer research, prioritisation, and stakeholder alignment across multiple business partners. You’ll be hands-on, close to both the product and the customer, ensuring what we build genuinely improves how Australians access and manage their retirement savings.  

This role is ideal for a hands-on product leader who loves turning complex problems into simple, human solutions that make a genuine difference.  

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Own the proof-of-concept (POC) roadmap balancing innovation, risk, compliance, and technical feasibility.  

  • Turn complexity into build plans: translate superannuation, payments, and digital identity requirements into clear stories, acceptance criteria, and delivery milestones.  

  • Lead discovery and definition running customer interviews, hypothesis workshops, and rapid experiments to validate problem–solution fit.  

  • Prioritise effectively to deliver the highest-value outcomes first, managing trade-offs and keeping focus on measurable impact.  

  • Collaborate across teams aligning engineers, designers, operations, and senior stakeholders across CommBank, x15, and partner superfunds.  

  • Maintain delivery momentum identifying dependencies early, removing blockers, and keeping delivery plans on track.  

  • Define and track success metrics capturing learning, validating value creation, and guiding how the platform could scale across technology, product, customer, and commercial dimensions if the PoC is successful and evolves into a venture.  

  • Champion quality and customer experience ensuring the PoC is secure, compliant, and built to the standards needed for future scale.  

 

Your skills and experience   

  • Deep experience owning and delivering products within fintech, digital ventures, or financial services.  

  • A proven track record delivering early-stage PoCs or MVPs in collaboration with engineering and design.  

  • Experience working with payments and digital identity products, and familiarity with real-time banking infrastructure (e.g. NPP, ConnectID).  

  • Experience managing complex stakeholder environments balancing competing priorities across technology, risk, and partner teams to achieve delivery outcomes.  

  • Applied agile and lean delivery skills to bring clarity and pace to complex, ambiguous environments.  

  • Evidence-based decision making using customer insight and data to prioritise and measure impact.  

  • The ability to simplify regulatory and operational complexity into clear, customer-focused experiences.  

  • Exercised sound judgement and prioritisation balancing trade-offs to maximise customer and commercial value.  

  • Composure in uncertainty breaking complex problems into actionable steps and moving forward decisively.  

  • Clear, concise communication that builds alignment and influence across technical and business teams.  

  • Experience designing products that integrate with APIs and complex system architectures, balancing technical constraints with great customer outcomes.  

  • Understanding of superannuation, payments, or institutional banking domains and the customer, regulatory, and system context they operate within.  

  • Background collaborating with financial institutions, fintechs, or venture studios to deliver new digital propositions.  

  • Proven ability to take early concepts and shape them into scalable products and operating models practical, hands-on, and delivery-focused.
