This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
Body PI engineer is the primary liaison between ME Body and Product Engineering, ensuring that the product design is driven by manufacturing needs by following Manufacturing Requirements (MRs) and Best Practices (BPs.) This role focuses on achieving global inter-buildability, maintaining top-tier static quality, and aligning with GM's "Lean" manufacturing principles and systems. PI engineers oversee programs throughout the entire GVDP lifecycle, actively seeking solutions to complex problems and aiming for cost reductions.
What You'll Do
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering field or equivalent experience
At least 4 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
High level of oral and written communication skills
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Plant personnel, and suppliers
High level of analytical abilities to solve complex problems
Facilitator /leadership skills
Proficient in Microsoft software
Ability to travel locally as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Body-In-White (BIW) tool design and build
Proficiency in TeamCenter/VisMockup
Familiar with math based processes
Familiar with General Motors North America (GMNA) standards
Knowledge of Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP) and related deliverables
