Santander Corporate & Investment Banking is looking for a motivated sales member of the Export Finance team based out of Frankfurt

This person will be part of the #1 ECA franchise in Europe and globally and you will be playing a key role in originating, structuring and executing Export Credit Agency (ECA)-backed and agency-supported financing transactions. The role involves close collaboration with corporate clients, ECAs, multilaterals, and internal stakeholders to deliver tailored financing solutions supporting cross-border trade and infrastructure projects

To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Identify and originate ECA-backed and agency financing opportunities across sectors (infrastructure, energy, transportation, etc.)
  • Be responsible for the Term sheet negotiation and preparation of credit memos and any other internal approval materials.
  • Contribute to business strategy, pipeline development, and product innovation.
  • Track market trends, regulatory developments, and ECA program changes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with corporate clients, sponsors, exporters, and financial institutions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with export credit agencies (e.g., Euler Hermes, SERV, OekB, EIFO, Finnvera, EKN, Eksfin) and multilateral institutions (e.g., KfW).
  • Support end to end execution up to financial close for the structuring of complex ECA and agency backed transactions ((buyer credits, supplier credits, guarantees, insurance) working closely with risk, legal and compliance teams to ensure transactions meet internal and regulatory standards.
  • Act as a key point of contact between clients, ECAs, legal counsel, and internal teams.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and manage ongoing client relationships.
  • Mentor junior team members and analysts.

Professional Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in export finance, structured trade, project finance, or corporate banking.
  • Proven experience working with ECAs and agency-backed financing structures.
  • Knowledge of other Trade Finance products (guarantees, supply chain finance, receivables..) and working experience with DFI is desirable

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering or related degrees.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Formal education on business analytics or programming languages preferred

Languages

  • German (Native)
  • English (Required)
  •  Spanish or a Nordic language (Preferred)

Hard Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of ECA products (buyer credit, supplier credit, guarantees, insurance).
  • Familiarity with loan documentation (LMA standards preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adjust to different working environment and cross- cultural awareness
  • High motivation, proactivity and accomplished business origination skills.
