We have an opportunity for a Product Engineer to join our White Bear Township, MN team. You will be the main engineering interface between the product design team and the manufacturing operations, driving products sustaining engineering excellence and supporting new product development. You will be the local product design subject-matter expert, supporting the Production, Quality & Sourcing teams to ensure design-intent and technical specifications are met. You will also play a role in Product Development projects, contributing to the design, validation testing, and launch of new products and sustaining engineering activities for existing products.  This position will also provide product support to internal and external customers in the North and South American markets.

You will:

  • Develop as the local product-design subject-matter expert for industrial air treatment products from Pentair
  • Provide engineering support for Production, QA & Sourcing staff to manufacture high quality products, meeting all technical specifications and product compliance requirements
  • Provide product design knowledge to support existing manufacturing and new process improvements
  • Support the new product developmental activities including new product design projects or improvements/sustaining of legacy product designs.
  • Engage in Innovation and Growth initiatives by participating in ideation, concept development, prototyping, and testing of products and processes.
  • 3D CAD design and engineering drawing creation and release
  • Manage design changes with internal document control software
  • Provide technical assistance and support to customer inquiries and sales efforts.        
  • Create BOMs, part numbers, sub-assemblies, and raw materials within the ERP System
  • Conduct product testing to determine product behavior, performance and durability of current and new products and to support troubleshooting activities. 
  • Conduct root cause analysis and reverse engineering to resolve product issues.
  • Participate in sustainability-focused design and manufacturing efforts and transformation, contributing to initiatives in safety, warranty reduction, and quality improvement.

Key Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s or advanced degree in mechanical engineering, or related
  • Experience: 3-5+ years’ experience with Bachelors (2+ years with advanced degree) in Product Engineering, New Product Development, or manufacturing Engineering.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, ability to track multiple projects and tasks
  • Experience with industrial product, production and environmental safety standards, such as UL, CSA, ATEX, IEC & ISO systems, etc.
  • Inventor or SolidWorks experience
  • Experience with design control and engineering change procedures
  • Understanding of pneumatic systems, valves, pressure vessel equipment and associated industrial control equipment or other industrial air filtration and treatment experience.
  • Experience with design of automated manufacturing equipment
  • Experience with ERP software such as SAP and JDE
  • Understand the principles of Lean design and processes and 5S manufacturing
  • Manufacturing process validation experience
  • Familiarity with engineering tools such as FMEA, DFM, DVP&R, RCCM, and Risk Analysis.
  • Experience in Design of Experiment and Design for Manufacture
  • Willingness to work and collaborate with virtual teams across a variety of time zones
  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally up to 25% for training during first year, then up to 15% afterward

Compensation:

For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $71000 - $131800 / year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs. This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
