The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Maintaining the product design to ensure product safety and efficacy meeting/exceeding design intent as materials, processes, methods, regulations, and specifications changes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Leading change control for commercialized products and support NPI from lead change control for commercialized products and support NPI from development through scale-up, and continued improvement and innovation until the products are retired.
  • Translating between technical/engineering disciplines and incorporating feedback from customers and technical support engineers to further improve products, processes, and services.
  • Providing technical expertise to new product development teams and product changes.
  • Strengthening product and process capabilities to ensure compliance with production procedures, standards, safety, and regulations.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution AND (3) three years of experience developing, supporting and/or maintaining commercialized products in a private, public, government environment

In addition to the above requirements, the following are also required:

  • Three (3) years of product and/or manufacturing experience in the medical device industry and/or healthcare Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as ISO13485, GMP.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills (written, oral, and presentation) and systems proficiency in Japanese and English (TOEIC score 730+) (4-type English Skill Sets (i.e. Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing) are required.)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Competencies in one or more of the following areas:
    • Experience on coating various materials onto substrates/backings
    • Film extrusion and / or lamination of multiple substrates
    • Product and/or process liners of many types, including film and paper based liner
    • Nonwoven materials
  • Knowledge of change management, familiarity with qualification procedures (process validation, design verification), and competency in creative problem solving.
  • Demonstrated use of project management techniques to lead cross functional teams in projects that drive improvement and results.
  • Experience collaborating with laboratory, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing functions.
  • Statistical knowledge and practice [e.g., Design of Experiments (DOE), sampling, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Product & Process Understanding (PPU), Lean Six Sigma, etc.]
  • Experiences in executing issues investigation, problem-solving, and improvement projects
  • Visiting and forming great working relationships with identified third party manufacturing locations or internal manufacturing locations to facilitate qualifications and manufacturing process change plan.
