Summary
We are looking for a senior product engineer who will work with our development team to bring switching products to production. Lumentum’s industry leading products are used throughout the world by Tier 1 network equipment vendors. You will work with a multidisciplinary R&D and process development team specializing in fiber optic modules, opto-mechanical design, MEMS, electronics, algorithms, firmware, test, and reliability. You will work with the R&D, process, and operations teams to bring switching products to volume production at our contract manufacturer in Asia.
Job Duties and Tasks
Product engineering responsibility for transfer of switch products to contract manufacturer.
Troubleshoot product and yield issues. Coordinate with the multidisciplinary teams to derive the most effective solutions to production, yield, cost and quality issues.
Bill of materials management including working with supply chain and suppliers. This includes working with suppliers to ensure timely development of their associated custom parts and assemblies.
Process flow optimization, DFM, PFMEA, and work instruction development and maintenance.
Lifecycle support for product post release to manufacturing including managing quality excursions, supplier issues, process improvements, and change management.
Required Qualifications
Masters or PhD degree in Engineering or Science. Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or other relevant engineering or physical science discipline.
Prior experience in fiber optic module product engineering.
Strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to adhere to tight deadlines.
Travel to Asia will be required 4-6 times yearly
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity in working with Contract Manufacturers (CM) and knowledge of assembly/test equipment capabilities (particularly in Asia), experience with a cleanroom laboratory environment and the telecommunication test equipment
Industrial engineering and lean manufacturing work experience.
Experience with DOE, DFX, and FMEA.
