Job Description

  

We are seeking a prospective teammate that will steward mission-critical products from prototype through end‑of‑life. You’ll be the go‑to engineering partner for Manufacturing, Quality, Test, Supply Chain, Sales/Applications, and Program Management, resolving issues quickly, driving yield and cost improvements, authoring/maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.

This position is specifically focused on the Power Management product line, including solid‑state relays (SSRs), solid‑state power controllers (SSPCs), power hybrids, and related hybrid technology products (i.e. heaters, optocouplers, and voltage regulators). You will play a key role in ensuring these products meet demanding electrical, thermal, and reliability performance expectations across their entire lifecycle.

What you’ll do:

The essential functions and key responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:

  •  Serve as technical owner for assigned Power Management product families.
  • Own BOM integrity, part substitutions, and change control through ECOs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues (process, test, materials) and partner with Manufacturing/Test Engineering to ensure stable, high‑yield processeses.
  • Use SPC/DoE to reduce variation and enhance yield.
  • Participate in MRB and Nonconformance disposition.
  • Create and maintain datasheets, product specs, work instructions, process travelers, and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Support prototypes, characterization, DVT/qualification planning, and production release.
  • Drive readiness of fixtures, test plans, and documentation at each phase-gate of the PLM.
  • Perform hands-on testing and validation of power management products (i.e. switching behavior, inrush/short‑circuit response, thermal limits, and other primary functions).
  • Ensure conformance to industry, regulatory, environmental, and customer-specific requirements (e.g., AS9100 processes; MIL/JEDEC where applicable; RoHS/REACH declarations).
  • Assist with internal, supplier, and customer audits as well as RCCA efforts and CAR closure.
  • Lead/coordinate FA and RCCA using structured methods (5-Why, Ishikawa, FMEA)
  • Support cost reductions initiatives (process/test time/materials/alternative sources) while protecting performance, quality, and reliability.
  • Respond to technical inquiries from Sales team and provide application guidance and design-in support.
  • Occasionally (10% or less) visit customers or suppliers as needed.
  • Utilize SPICE and CAD tools for design analysis, review, and validation of changes.

What you'll need

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (MS a plus) - required
  • Strong fundamentals in electronics and manufacturing/sustaining engineering - required
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and documentation rigor - required
  • Ability to prioritize across multiple products/projects with minimal oversight - required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365; familiarity with PLM/ERP environments - required
  • Experience with Power Management products such as SSRs, SSPCs, power microelectronics, hybrid microelectronics, thick/thin film, PCB assemblies, epoxy/potting, automated test, and environmental testing - advantage
  • Tools: LTspice/PSpice (or equivalent), Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, SolidWorks - advantage
  • Knowledge of aerospace/defense standards and practices (e.g., AS9100 processes; MIL‑STD‑883/202/750 methods where applicable; derating; HALT/HASS exposure) - advantage
  • Working knowledge of ECO processes, FMEA (DFMEA/PFMEA), SPC/DoE, and structured RCCA - advantage
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent practical application is a plus - advantage
