Key Responsibilities
• Obtains results by leading the development of manufacturing processes and equipment concurrent with new product development, ensuring that product performance specifications, cost and time targets are met.
• Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; apply knowledge of product design, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and materials; Check with equipment vendors.
• Partner with local Manufacturing Engineering teams to address, build or advise on new, outstanding and difficult (NUD) features of our products and processes.
• Use of financial and engineering information to develop efficient equipment and manufacturing processes and to improve cost estimates for business cases.
• Act as a leader, using strong decision skills, to optimize equipment utilization and reduce capital expense. Provide mentorship and criteria to the product design group, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), relocating underutilized equipment, improving cycle time, scrap, capital/tooling layouts, and labor costs of existing equipment. Use financial and engineering data to develop optimized manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Technical resources for equipment and manufacturing processes for customer program launches, share lessons learned and standard methodologies, and benchmark operations support.
• Agile learner and problem solver who is interested in manufacturing technologies that project into high volume production, accepting the risk of leading in the first situation.
• Uses strong technical skills to be a resource to our supply team. You can work together to identify, develop, or resolve critical supplier processing issues. Participate in Design for Value activities.
• Motivates others and acts as a point person for the local business unit. Provide technical, linguistic/cultural and communication support between AME and the operation as needed.
• Identify, articulate and communicate the key trends related to the dynamics of the manufacturing market that influence the expansion of the market and our business unit.
• Strong and committed decision making skills to provide key recommendations to the management leadership team.
• Understand industry trends and direct relevant information to team members)
• Develops strong presentations that convey strategies, goals, and opportunities.
Educational experience
• Bachelor of Engineering or Technology, Industrial Engineering. Master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of demonstrated ability, preferably in the automotive or automotive supplier industry, high volume production industrial manufacturing operations.
• Understanding of basic engineering finances.
• A solid understanding of vehicle system level components and functions is a plus.
• Strong functional and technical skills with the ability to integrate into a cross-functional team.
• Recognized process expert with the ability to transmit/train knowledge to others. Knowledge of assembly process technologies, resistance/laser, plastic injection molding preferred.
• Experience in mechanical design, 3D modeling.
• Basic electrical, hydraulic and PLC knowledge preferred.
• Good management of PC, Office tools.
• Experience in metrology methods and Measurement Systems Analysis.
• Good organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, balance multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of Project Management software.
• Extensive experience in data analysis and structured problem solving techniques. Minitab experience preferred.
• Confidence to work remotely/remote with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to travel internationally 50% of the time.
• English proficiency is required. Additional spoken languages would be beneficial for the position.
