Product Engineer

Irapuato - Mexico Full time
Manage product design by serving as the technical liaison between global product engineering and the manufacturing plant, providing technical support for design and process changes, both on-site and off-site.
Central activities include technical problem solving, design changes, concept evaluation, technical risk analysis, implementation of design cost reductions, support engineering warranty solutions, and general improvement of existing products.

  • Provides technical support to the Irapuato plant for resolving product, quality, and manufacturing issues, leading activities such as hardware failure mode analysis, design and manufacturing process for root cause and corrective actions using structured methodologies like 8D and Shainin.
  • Supports Irapuato manufacturing operations, including supply chain, in solving production or process problems to ensure that product meets requirements of reliability, quality, and cost.
  • Releases product designs for Irapuato in accordance with BW product design and process guidelines.
  • Develops and follow up on validation plans as required.
  • Collaborates with global product engineering, SDE, purchasing, sales, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain personnel to achieve objectives set by regional engineering management and local plant management.
  • Supports the Projects team in integrating product and process changes between DMS Irapuato, suppliers, and customers.
  • Coordinates all prototype testing activities and engineering tests within BW Irapuato and with the customer as needed.
  • Keeps regional and global product engineering management teams informed of activities and progress at agreed frequency.
  • Keeps local plant management team informed of activities and progress at agreed frequency.
  • Leads reviews of DRBFM, DFMEA, DVP&R, and DFM/DFA.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Mechanical, Automotive, or related).
  • 5+ years of experience in the automotive industry, specifically in powertrain sector.
  • Experience in creating DFMEA required.
  • Experience in root cause analysis required.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings and knowledge of GD&T required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Experience in automotive development processes required.
  • Experience as Product Engineer in transmission and/or clutch-related products.
  • Advanced English required.
  • Experience in DFM/DFA preferred.
  • Team Center.
