JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary:
The Product Engineer is a hands-on lab based position that utilizes equipment, software and hardware to setup, run, and analyze thermal comfort related tests that evaluate and/or validate seating products for use. This position reports up through the Comfort SMTE and ensures that tests are conducted safely, efficiently, correctly, and in accordance to published and/or provided specifications and requirements.
Thermal Comfort Engineer Specific Duties:
Direct and conduct thermal comfort testing per customer test specifications using related equipment.
Ability to apply fundamental knowledge of airflow and thermal comfort principles.
Usage of data acquisition systems to collect test data.
Responsible for test instrumentation set-up, calibration, and usage. Instrumentation includes, but not limited to thermocouples/thermocouple mats, airflow test equipment, FLIR thermal camera, and thermal manikin.
Clearly communicate complex data to technical and non-technical team members.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams on creative solutions to thermal comfort problems.
General Duties:
Supporting thermal comfort testing and analysis of prototype/production builds both on-site and remotely.
Conduct post-test data processing and interpretation of results.
Completion of any necessary testing documentation which may include calibration sheets, data sheets, test reports, video files, still photos.
Maintains safe, secure, and clean work place by following 5S standards.
Conduct some equipment maintenance and/or repair as applicable.
Use Global Lab Information System (gLIMs) for test data and information. Support test report process by uploading files, loading test data and information, provide test summary and observations.
Interface with Adient product engineers and customers as required.
Support test method development and/or continuous improvement projects as required.
Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
0-5 years of experience
Experience with seating products preferred
Analytical problem solving and design for assembly/manufacturing
