Product Development Manager (Systems) - Onsite Position
We’re looking for highly motivated Product Development Manager to join our Ottawa, ON team, you will lead a dynamic group of Engineers responsible for the development of new products and the support of the existing product lines. You plan and oversee the product development related activities, ensuring objectives are accomplished to meet the business and customer objectives.
You will also work closely with other cross-functional team members in Engineering, New Product Introduction (NPI), Customer Support and Product Management. You coach, mentor, guide, and help nurture the development team to realize its full potential and adopt our culture of quality and customer satisfaction.

Salary Range: $119,500 - $159,300 plus bonus opportunity

Your Challenge:
Lead a multidisciplinary systems engineering project team responsible for the full-lifecycle development of rugged deployed systems for harsh environments. This includes:
Ownership of technical direction and execution across multiple product developments
Ensure on-time delivery of systems that meet the most demanding environmental, safety, and performance requirements
Be a hands-on leader who achieves success through modelling best practices and a service attitude
Help lead cross-functional problem-solving initiatives
Participate in bid/project activities such as defining architecture, developing technical proposals and providing detailed cost and schedule estimates
Interact with customers regarding requirements and technical solutions
Manage 3rd party relationships and coordination of work for cross site initiatives
Pre- and post-Sales support when needed by Product Marketing or Customer Support
Serve as the primary technical interface to customers and senior leadership in a fast-paced, innovative driven environment.
Responsible for the career development, training and performance evaluations of assigned staff
What You Bring:
Leadership & Program Execution
Proven experience leading systems engineering teams through complete development lifecycles on deployed military/aerospace programs (concept to certification and production)
Track record of successfully delivering complex systems solutions on schedule and within budget
Ability to set technical strategies, allocate resources, mentor engineers, and remove roadblocks across the team
Requirements management, traceability, and validation; ability to write clear, formal documentation
Experience reporting technical status, risks, and path-forward to customers, program leadership, and executive stakeholders
Technical Leadership Depth
Experience with DOORS and JIRA; working knowledge of Cameo a plus
Strong understanding of leading-edge processors (Intel x86, NXP/Qualcomm Power Architecture & ARM), FPGAs, Ethernet switches, and high-speed interconnects (Gen 3/4 PCIe, 40/100GbE, DDR4/5)
Thorough knowledge of environmental/power standards (MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-810, DO-160)
Strong understanding of PCB design, DFM, cross-disciplinary impacts (EE, ME, software, manufacturing)
Knowledge of safety-critical processes (DO-254, DO-178C, ARP4754, MIL-STD-882)
Prior success guiding teams through RTCA/FAA certification and conducting System Safety Assessments (SSA, FHA, FMEA) a plus
Hands-On & Problem-Solving Skills
Demonstrated ability to access complex problems, debug rugged systems at hardware/software/integration level when needed, and guide root-cause analysis
Recognized for mature engineering judgment, creativity, and foresight in anticipating and solving unprecedented challenges
People & Professional Leadership
Ability to build, motivate, and retain high-performing engineering teams
Experience evaluating technical performance, conducting talent reviews, and recommending training/development plans
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; able to translate complex technical topics for diverse audiences
Results-oriented leader who holds self and team accountable, champions process improvement, and drives customer satisfaction
Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities and shifting requirements
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
10+ years of progressive systems engineering experience in rugged deployed systems for harsh environments, with at least 5 years in a formal leadership or technical management role
