Position Overview

As a Product Designer, you will transform complex marine engineering data into intuitive, beautifully crafted user experiences. Working at the intersection of physical and digital interfaces, you'll collaborate with marine engineers and development teams to create products that both inspire and perform. You bring an eye for craft—the kind that appreciates a precision watch or a well-engineered vehicle—and translate that aesthetic sensibility into interfaces that wow our customers while adapting and advancing industry standards.

At Brunswick, we have passion for our work and a distinct ability to deliver.

Essential Functions:

  • Design intuitive interfaces for complex marine engineering systems, translating technical data and machinery controls into accessible, user-friendly experiences
  • Partner closely with local engineering and product teams to deeply understand technical constraints, user workflows, and domain-specific requirements
  • Collaborate with global design and software engineering teams to ensure design consistency and quality implementation across platforms
  • Research and leverage marine industry interface conventions, then thoughtfully evolve them to set new standards for usability and visual excellence
  • Conduct user research with marine end-users and experts to validate design decisions and uncover insights
  • Lead and participate in design workshops with engineers, domain experts, and end users
  • Create compelling prototypes, animations, and interaction models that communicate design vision and guide development
  • Bridge the gap between design and engineering with technical fluency across multiple devices, breakpoints, and use cases
  • Identify and resolve UX/UI challenges through systematic problem-solving and iteration
  • Advocate for design excellence and user-centered thinking across the organization

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of prior experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interactive Design, Human Factors, Visual Design or a degree with an equivalent curriculum that teaches user centered design principles
  • Strong visual design skills with a refined aesthetic sensibility—you draw inspiration from beautifully crafted objects (watches, vehicles, precision instruments) and apply that craft to digital experiences
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and communicate complex engineering concepts; capable of getting "into the weeds" with engineers and technical stakeholders
  • Expert proficiency in Figma and modern design tools, with a drive to identify and champion better processes, tools and automation
  • Proven ability to design for complexity—making dense technical information clear, scannable, and actionable
  • Experience designing across multiple platforms, devices, and contexts with attention to responsive design principles
  • Analytical and systematic approach to solving complex design problems
  • Meticulous attention to detail in component design, interactions, and file organization
  • Skilled in creating illustrations, iconography, and motion design that enhance usability and brand expression
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially when working with cross-functional and distributed teams
  • Self-directed and resourceful with the ability to drive projects forward with minimal oversight

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing for industrial, maritime, automotive, or technical domains
  • Understanding of data visualization and real-time monitoring interfaces
  • Familiarity with design systems and component-based design

Working Conditions:

  • In office on a hybrid basis is required
  • 5-10% travel domestic and international
