Introduction

We at Shimano are looking for Product Compliance Specialist with the expertise in Chemical domain. This role requires an experienced, hands on product compliance professional who can translate EU regulatory requirements into operational and scalable processes. The successful candidate will not inherit a fully mature system. The role combines regulatory expertise, data discipline, and process ownership. It is execution driven and heavy accountability.

The Challenge

  • Establishing PFAS compliance workflows, including supplier data collection, material screening logic, risk categorization, and regulatory readiness for future restrictions.
  • Monitoring new and upcoming product legislation and translating it into impact assessments and actionable internal steps.
  • Creating templates, checklists, decision trees, and tracking tools to support consistent execution.
  • Actively requesting, verifying, challenging, and correcting supplier compliance data.
  • Identifying weaknesses in existing processes and implementing corrective actions before issues escalate to customers or authorities.

Stakeholder and Interface Management

  • Ability to work independently while coordinating across Product Management, R&D, Quality, Legal, and Supply Chain.
  • Experience pushing back on suppliers and internal stakeholders when data quality or timeliness is insufficient.
  • Clear, structured communicator who can explain regulatory risks and decisions in plain language.
  • Comfortable owning topics and making defensible compliance calls without constant supervision.

Process Design and Ownership Capabilities

  • Demonstrated experience creating compliance processes from scratch or significantly reworking immature ones.
  • Ability to define end‑to‑end workflows covering data intake, validation, assessment, decision making, documentation, escalation, and record retention.
  • Experience turning regulatory obligations into repeatable routines that can survive product changes, supplier turnover, and audits.
  • Comfortable defining roles and responsibilities, triggers, timelines, and ownership across multiple stakeholders.

What are we looking for?

  • Typically, 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in product or chemical compliance.
