Shape the Future of Music Royalties

At Universal Music Group, we are transforming the way recorded music royalties are calculated and delivered to artists and labels worldwide.

We are building a next generation Recorded Music Royalties Calculation System to replace legacy platforms used across our global network. This is a rare opportunity to join a large-scale, business-critical transformation programme at the heart of how artists get paid.

We are looking for a Product Analyst to work closely with the Business Product Owner and cross-functional delivery teams to help shape, build and roll out this global platform.

This role offers exposure to international stakeholders, complex commercial models, modern product practices and progression into greater product ownership over time.

The Opportunity

As Product Analyst, you will operate at the intersection of:

  • Product strategy

  • Agile software delivery

  • Royalties and finance operations

  • Data, system logic and process design

You will support the end-to-end product lifecycle — from discovery and requirements gathering through to testing, rollout and optimisation.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Has worked on Agile software projects

  • Enjoys solving complex business and data problems

  • Is curious about the commercial mechanics of the music industry

  • Wants to grow into owning product workstreams

You do not need to be a royalties expert — but you must be motivated to learn.

What You’ll Be Doing

Product Development & Delivery

  • Help prioritise features in line with business value and global rollout strategy

  • Track delivery progress and proactively manage risks and dependencies

  • Define metrics, provide insights and provide recommendations on product features

Royalties & Business Analysis

  • Develop an understanding of royalty calculation logic, deal structures, revenue flows and financial controls

  • Analyse operational pain points and propose scalable system solutions

  • Work closely with finance and royalties teams across multiple territories to capture requirements and validate solutions

Process & System Design

  • Map end-to-end workflows using tools such as Lucid

  • Document global best practice processes and system behaviours

  • Support the evolution from legacy workflows to streamlined, scalable product-led processes

Testing & Global Rollout

  • Help design and execute test cases and support UAT cycles

  • Log and triage defects with development teams

  • Support training, release notes and user documentation

  • Act as a bridge between technical teams and operational users

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Facilitate workshops and feedback sessions

  • Communicate clearly with global stakeholders across different time zones

  • Maintain transparent documentation in SharePoint and Confluence

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in a Product, Business Analyst, QA or Agile delivery role

  • Experience working within Agile software development environments

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Lucid, SharePoint (or equivalent)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Highly Desirable

  • Exposure to music royalties, rights management, recorded music operations or finance systems

  • Experience working with financial or transactional systems

  • Experience supporting system implementation or transformation projects

  • Understanding of database structures, SQL or Python

What Makes This Role Unique

  • Work with global teams across 50+ territories

  • Contribute to how artists and labels are paid worldwide

  • Join a major business transformation programme at scale

  • Gain deep knowledge in a highly specialised and valuable industry domain

  • Clear pathway to owning product workstreams and progressing into Product Manager-level responsibility

Who You Are

  • Curious and commercially minded

  • Detail-oriented but able to see the bigger picture

  • Proactive self-starter

  • Collaborative and comfortable working cross-functionally

  • Motivated to build expertise in the mechanics of the recorded music industry

Career Growth

This role is designed as a progression opportunity. As the system scales, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead defined product workstreams

  • Become a subject-matter expert in royalties calculation

  • Take ownership of global stakeholder groups

  • Progress toward Product Manager or Senior Product Analyst roles

If you are excited by complex systems, global impact, and shaping the infrastructure that underpins the music industry — we’d love to hear from you.
