GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Product Administrator is responsible for administrative work and team leadership of the Underwriting Admin Support roles. The responsibilities focus on the processing and triaging of incoming broker transactions, UAS audit procedures, data processing, training of new employees, administering the record management program, and other administrative functions.   The Product Administrator coordinates shift scheduling and staffing duties as required within the area.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Oversee the Administration staff to ensure procedures are followed relating to the broker submission triage and WIP process, incoming and outgoing mail distribution, audit process and meeting deadlines daily.

  • Oversees and provides training to entry level staff in the Administration area.

  • Oversees office supply ordering.

  • Oversee the policy cover page print and distribution for Personal and Commercial underwriting areas.

  • Administers broker submissions for all personal and commercial insurance products for new applications, quotes, revisions, renewals and cancelations for SK, AB, MB, and BC.

  • Administers and issues Commercial lines decline quote requests to the brokers

  • Administers all documents for storage following the procedures set forth by the Archives board.

  • Respond to internal customer inquiries relating to the Administration unit.

  • Handles requests outside of normal operating procedures that arise within the Administration unit.

  • Proficient knowledge of the manual and automated systems used to support the Underwriting Division

  • Proficient knowledge of Underwriting Procedures.

  • Proficient level skill in telephone etiquette e.g., answering phones, handling the call, listening, professionalism and terminology.

  • Proficient level skill in proofreading documents for accuracy.  

  • Proficient level knowledge of arithmetic computations.

  • Proficient skill in using Microsoft Products (e.g., Word, Excel etc. ).

  • Fundamental knowledge of the principles & practices of Insurance

  • Fundamental knowledge of the overall organization and functions of SGI and its business partners.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

  • One year certificate from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study, such as Business, or defined equivalency.

EXPERIENCE

  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in underwriting or an insurance related role.
