The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in shaping and executing sourcing strategies along the Purchase-to-Pay process for the drug substance business. Your responsibilities will include leading sourcing events, overseeing project-related activities for various materials categories, and maintaining data. By collaborating with cross-functional and cross-site teams, including sourcing, operations, supply chain, finance, and other key stakeholders, you will utilize procurement IT and spend analytics tools to gather and analyze data, identify potential suppliers, and conduct cost and scenario analyses. Your expertise will drive efficient procurement processes and contribute to the overall success of the organization. What will you do? • Gather and analyze data using procurement spend analytics tools. • Work with the Market Intelligence team to research and identify potential suppliers for sourcing requests. • Perform basic cost and scenario analysis to analyze supplier bids and inform sourcing strategies • Research potential vendors, develop and execute requests for proposals (RFPs). • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear user requirements documentation is translated to RFP and contracts as appropriate. • Maintain procurement databases, master data maintenance, and support • Negotiating offers with suppliers and converting purchase requisitions into SAP orders in consultation with technical department. • Maintain automated process for technical stock orders. (Request price lists from suppliers and negotiate them. Creating and maintaining purchase info records. Consultation with Master Data team and local stock responsible) • Checking order confirmations (especially delivery time, price) and updating data in SAP. • Clarifying of invoice deviations with PSG Payables team and local finance, and local requester (Catalyst). • Drive continuous improvement of own Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior Buy Desk Specialists on category-specific requirements. Education • Requires a bachelor’s degree in technical, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field. • Proven experience as a Buyer, Purchasing Specialist, or related. • At least 3 years of work experience in procurement / sourcing. • High level of English language proficiency (B2 or higher), both verbal and written. Experience • Experience with sourcing processes, vendor management, contract negotiations, and purchase-to-pay operations. • Expertise in sourcing tools (e-sourcing, spend analytics, ERP, supplier management software). • Negotiation skills – will need to solicit bids and negotiate purchases directly with suppliers. Experience across various sourcing categories. • Ability to gather, interpret, and analyze data to inform sourcing decisions. • Able to work with documented assumptions and extrapolate insights from incomplete or limited data sets. • Consistently delivers accurate results under tight time constraints • Agility and flexibility to develop expertise across sourcing categories in areas complementary to the existing team. • Excellent communication skills for structuring ideas clearly and concisely. • Demonstrates entrepreneurial thinking and scenario planning (“what-if” analysis). • Applies a mindset of operational excellence focused on continuous improvement (“find a better way, every day”). • Strong customer service orientation and attention to detail aligned with high standards of quality and excellence. • Experience in a continuous improvement environment. • Experience in a chemical or pharma manufacturing background is a plus • Desire to mentor and coach junior team members.
