Position: Procurement Specialist

Line Manager: AP Site Head

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source, evaluate, negotiate, and procure biological reagents, lab consumables, production equipment, instruments, and technical services.
  • Resolve after-sales issues in various types of procurement
  • Identify, qualify, and onboard Singapore and international suppliers (especially in life sciences), maintaining a Qualified Supplier Database
  • Conduct periodic supplier performance reviews (quality, delivery, responsiveness, compliance). And promote continuous improvement of supplier performance
  • Analyze spend data to identify cost-saving opportunities; implement strategies such as bulk purchasing or framework agreements
  • Streamline procurement workflows. Improve procurement efficiency
  • Partner closely with R&D, Production, Quality, and Finance teams to align procurement with operational needs and timelines
  • Support audit readiness by preparing procurement-related documentation
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with Singapore regulations, company policies, and industry standards (e.g., ISO, FDA)
  • Mitigate contractual risks including IP, confidentiality, and liability clauses

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Procurement (preferably in life sciences, pharma, CRO/CDMO, or lab equipment sectors); OR Production, operations, or material management experience in CRO, biopharmaceutical, medical device, or related industries, with familiarity with BOMs and material flows
  • Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables required)
  • Basic contract review and negotiation skill
  • Strong cross-cultural communication; able to liaise independently with global supplier
  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin (written and spoken); capable of handling technical documents and contracts in English (as this role works closely with internal customers in China)
  • Highly detail-oriented, responsible, and able to perform under pressure
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated learner committed to professional growth in procurement
  • Certification such as CPSM, CIPS, or CPPM, familiarity with Singapore’s local life science ecosystem or import/export customs procedures, and experience in lab operations, GMP warehousing, or QA/QC functions is an advantage
