Summary:

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics Division is seeking candidates for the position of Procurement Specialist for Regional Category Leader for Japan Site related materials including Finished goods and Kit Components in APAC region, reporting to the Global APAC leader.  This role will be expected to implement the Category Procurement Strategy for Abbott’s Rapid Diagnostics business, working closely with Abbott’s Global Procurement team to drive synergies.  This position is expected to be a key link among site procurement teams, the global procurement organization

Primary location: Abbott Japan - Chiba

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Complies with applicable corporate policies and procedures, and FDA/ISO/SOX regulations pertaining to the purchasing function.
  • Maintains good relations with internal and external customers by ensuring professional behavior consistent with Abbott Rapid Diagnostic’s policies and practices.
  • Research and evaluate business requirements and suppliers. Assist with supplier identification and selection.
  • Drive value and savings for categories. 
  • Collaborate with site team to set up Standard price and conclude PPV reports on monthly basis.
  • Collaborates with other functions.
  • Develop and execute competitive bidding processes (e.g.  RFPs, RFIs, …..)
  • Lead in-person fact-based negotiations with senior executives from suppliers based on an internally approved plan and goals. Demonstrate the ability to translate potential contractual risk into desired outcomes.
  • Perform value analysis on costs and supplier quotes; utilizing the cost-lab as support
  • Create and manage project plans, identify resources to support projects, drive multiple projects through complex sourcing processes and ensure end results meet the requirements
  • Support the development and completion of contracts, statement of work and standard operating procedure. 
  • Ensures all procurement policies and procedures are aligned with internal stakeholders e.g. Legal, Risk Management, Supply Chain.
  • Lead the development of contracts, statement of works and standard operating procedures aligning with Procurement policies and division requirements. 
  • Develop comprehensive category knowledge. 
  • Participates in data tracking, analysis, recommendation/business case development, and reporting to include scorecard, market and supplier assessments, and etc
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications

Preferred educational background:

  • Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, or Engineering; Master’s Degree a plus; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification from ISM or APICS is preferred
  • Speaks fluent Japanese and English
  • Experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma manufacturing concept is a plus

Preferred experiential background:

  • ~2-5years of experience in procurement, supply chain or trade business
  • Strong customer services skills, including engagement with management if required
  • Strong procurement skills including contracting, negotiations, and supplier relationship management.
  • Experience managing and acting to achieve KPIs such as savings target, cycle time reductions, etc.
  • Ability to identify a problem, work with extended team to frame it, determine root cause, drive to potential solutions, and build and present a business case
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office suite of program
  • Ability to travel up to 15% (mainly domestic)
