Job Description

 

Job Title: Associate, Procurement Operations (Ocean)

 

You will:

 

  • Build the Foundation: Digitize ocean carrier contracts and feed our rate management system to ensure our system has accurate ocean rates.
  • Drive Data Quality: Execute daily procurement operations, ensuring all end-to-end charges (freight + local charges) are entered with the highest accuracy.
  • Innovate with AI: Collaborate with the tech team to build and train AI scrapers, helping to automate the ingestion of complex carrier data.
  • Maintain the Network: Manage the lifecycle of rates, ensuring amendments and local charge updates are reflected instantly in our system.
  • Learn the Industry: Develop a deep understanding of Ocean Freight pricing structures, carrier logic, and global trade lanes under the mentorship of experienced procurement managers.

 

You should have:

 

  • 0-2 years experience: Recent graduates or those looking to break into Logistics/Supply Chain are encouraged to apply.
  • Freight Charges Familiarity: Basic understanding of ocean freight rates and related local charges is preferred.
  • Data Fluency: Comfortable working with large datasets; experience with Excel/Google Sheets is a must. Familiarity with visualization tools (Looker/Tableau) or SQL is a bonus.
  • Uncompromising Eye for Detail: You take pride in accuracy and can spot a decimal error in a haystack.
  • Curiosity & Drive: You don't just follow instructions; you ask "why" and want to understand the logic behind the data.
  • Tech-Forward Mindset: You are excited about using AI and software to solve manual problems.
