At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer.

We are professionals with purpose, beating cancer every day. But we need to go much further and much faster. That’s why we’re looking for someone talented, someone who wants to develop their skills, someone like you.

Cancer Research UK’s Procurement team plays a critical role in ensuring the charity has the resources it needs to operate and deliver on our mission. Managing around £200m of annual spend, we are driving an ambitious transformation to create a strategic, data-driven procurement function that delivers value, mitigates risk, and fosters innovation. By embedding procurement best practice across the organisation, we aim to maximise value for money, enhance quality, improve efficiency, and uphold our promise to direct 80p of every £1 donated towards beating cancer.

As a Procurement Data Analyst, you’ll take ownership of the data that underpins our procurement activity, ensuring accurate, reliable information that drives effective contract management and smarter decision‑making across Cancer Research UK. This hybrid role combines data analytics and contract administration to support the Procurement team in delivering value for money, compliance, and strategic insight. This will involve maintaining and enhancing our systems, producing meaningful reports, and translating complex datasets into clear insights for stakeholders across the charity. This is an opportunity for you to strengthen governance, improve processes, and support technology and change initiatives that elevate the impact of data within Procurement, while contributing directly to our mission to beat cancer.

If you’re an experienced Data Analyst who has used complex datasets to generate meaningful insights that informed stakeholder decision-making in a large organisation, we would love for you to join our mission.

What will I be doing?

  • Managing procurement data to support effective contract lifecycle management and enable evidence-based decision-making across Cancer Research UK.

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date procurement and contract records across Procurement’s systems.

  • Entering and managing all contracts in the system, ensuring alignment with procurement policies and procedures.

  • Generating and distributing contract renewal reports and other procurement-related reports as required.

  • Administering user accounts and permissions, ensuring compliance with internal Joiners, Leavers & Movers processes.

  • Ensuring system and user compliance through regular audits and adherence to governance protocols.

  • Writing, updating, and maintaining procedural documentation to support procurement operations and system use.

  • Supporting the management of the Procurement Service Desk, triaging and directing queries to the appropriate team members.

  • Supporting the Procurement Operations team in system-related collaboration.

  • Assisting in delivering technology and change management initiatives within the procurement function.

  • Contributing to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance data quality.

What skills will I need?

  • Experienced Data Analyst who has managed, manipulated, and cleaned complex datasets in large organisations.

    • We welcome applicants from a range of industries. Experience working with Procurement and/or Financial data would be beneficial, but is not essential.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proven experience using Excel and Power BI tools to interpret data, identify trends, and support decision-making.

  • Solid understanding of data compliance and privacy requirements.

  • Has built credible and collaborative stakeholder relationships with strong customer service, interpersonal, and influencing skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a successful track record of clearly translating complex data into meaningful insights and reporting for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Curious and proactive problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset for driving innovation and enhancing data reporting, while championing best practices and strong data governance.

  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines within a fast-paced and changing environment, while maintaining strong attention to detail.

  • Accountable with a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team to contribute towards the team’s collective success and shared goals.

  • Experience working with ERP or procurement systems would be advantageous, but is not essential (ideally Jaggaer, SAP, Oracle, or Coupa, etc.).
