We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Processing Technician to join our facility in Lynchburg, Virginia. The position reports to the Process Manager.
As a Processing Technician, you will play a key role in supporting our Plastic Injection Molding Department. You’ll be responsible for optimizing mold press operations, performing process changes, and collaborating across teams to ensure high-quality production. This is a hands-on opportunity to grow your technical skills in a fast-paced, safety-first environment.
Scientific molding or systematic troubleshooting techniques for optimizing cycle times, minimizing defects and supporting mold trials
Assist with mold changes, color changes and material changes when needed and directed by supervisor.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment while adhering to all safety policies and 5S procedures.
Maintain a workable knowledge of and the ability to operate all the controls of a mold press, auxiliary equipment, and robots safely and correctly.
Understand mold press technical terms.
Cross functional collaboration with engineering, quality and mold teams for continuous improvement, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Train operators and mold group employees on start-up and shutdown of press when applicable.
Adjust mold presses to ensure quality standards are correct and maintained.
Workable knowledge of and ability to use micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, gauge pins, impact tester and pressure test equipment.
Verify operation of secondary equipment such as chillers, thermo-units, and dryers.
Perform process verification checks multiple times per shift and/or during process change.
Maintain injection molding set up sheets and quality control documents.
Verify mold temperature, injection time, pressure, melt and dryer settings for repeatability/scrap reduction.
Read and understand technical documentation and work instructions.
Must be eager to learn, excited to work on a team, and have good written and verbal communication skills
Other duties as the need arises and/or assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of experience in injection molding or 1 year operating a mold press
At least 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Willingness to complete an Injection Molding Certification course (Paulson, A. Routsis, or equivalent)
Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and teamwork abilities
This position requires 12-hour, rotating night shifts to support 24/7 operations. Shift Schedule: 6:45pm-7am
Must be able to perform job responsibilities safely in a manufacturing environment.
Requires good mobility and involves considerable routine walking, standing for long periods, bending, stooping, and lifting (to a maximum of 50 lbs).
