Job Description
Albemarle is hiring for a Process Engineer. This position supports lithium manufacturing sites across the United States.
The Process Engineer is responsible for executing process design activities and providing engineering support to manufacturing operations. This includes development of process documentation, participation in safety reviews, implementation of process improvements, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimize production, cost, and quality.
What You Will Do
Process Design Responsibilities
Develop process design deliverables including P&IDs and process specification sheets
Perform process studies, research investigations, and support equipment or product design activities
Execute less complex engineering assignments with guidance and oversight from senior Process Technology engineers
Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and safety reviews to ensure safe and compliant process design
Assist in piloting and vendor testing of new process technologies
Develop and implement process designs and improvements for manufacturing operations
Process Engineering & Operations Support Responsibilities
Provide technical support to lithium plant operations to troubleshoot issues, improve performance, and optimize production
Identify and implement process improvements to reduce costs, improve quality, and minimize environmental impact
Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and process technology teams to ensure alignment on project execution
Assist in planning, developing, and modifying processes, procedures, and methods to meet quality, customer, and regulatory requirements
Communicate effectively with stakeholders and management regarding project status, improvements, and technical recommendations
Support innovation and problem-solving initiatives related to process performance and reliability
What You Bring
Required
A BS or MS in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university
2 years of related experience
Knowledge of fundamental process design principles and methodologies
Ability to develop and interpret engineering documents such as P&IDs and process specifications
Strong understanding of safety, health, and environmental practices in a manufacturing environment
Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical information
Ability to work collaboratively across engineering and manufacturing teams
Preferred
Experience supporting manufacturing or chemical process operations
Familiarity with lithium production processes or similar industrial environments
Exposure to process hazard analysis (PHA) methodologies and process safety practices
Demonstrated ability to contribute to process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives
