This team-oriented position will see you joining one of our Water Supply Teams where you will ensure that the water supply process delivers wholesome drinking water to our customers. As part of the role, you will be operating one of Anglian Waters largest water treatment works, monitoring and adjusting treatment processes to match our customer demands, water quality needs and communicating with various stakeholders. Your role will be to produce drinking water to high quality standards for our customers, in the most cost efficient and safe manner. You’ll complete on site testing to provide assurance of online instruments and validate processes and proactively review water quality trends and asset performance and take action to prevent failure.
Key Responsibilities :
Process Monitoring & Control: Using computer systems like SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) to monitor water flow, pressure, and tank levels in real-time.
Water Quality Testing: Collecting and analysing water samples to check for pH levels, metals, bacteria, and other contaminants to ensure they meet strict Drinking Water Quality Standards.
Network & Demand Management: Monitoring real-time demand patterns to tailor our production and subsequent output.
Chemical Management: Calculating and adjusting the dosing of chemicals (such as chlorine or coagulants) to purify the water and safely managing the storage and delivery of these hazardous materials.
Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine inspections and first-line maintenance on pumps, filters, and valves to prevent system failures
Pumping and Inflow Management: Coordinating large-scale abstraction from nearby rivers to maintain reservoir levels.
Incident Response: Responding to system alarms or pollution incidents in raw water sources (like rivers) to stop contaminated water from entering the treatment plant.
What do you need?
Your ability to learn quickly and use your own initiative to solve problems is essential for this role and you will train alongside an experienced Technician to ensure you gain all the skills and knowledge required.
We’ll provide full and on-going training to help you to understand in detail the water treatment process.
You’ll need a flexible approach to working hours as this role operates a 24/7, 365 day 1 in 6 shift pattern consisting of the following shifts: 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm- 6am. You will be expected to provide cross-cover for colleagues during periods of planned leave or unplanned absence to ensure 24/7 operational continuity.
