Role Overview
Rashpetco/Burullus is seeking an Experienced Process Technical Authority – Gas Processing with a minimum of 13 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas sector. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on process engineering, supporting the Engineering and Brownfield Team in optimising and troubleshooting gas processing systems, including compressors, relief systems, pumps, air coolers, tanks, offsites, and other essential process equipment.
As a Process Technical Authority, you will be responsible for the technical governance, assurance, and sign-off of process engineering deliverables, while also directly performing complex engineering activities. You will mentor and approve the work of other engineers, particularly those from JV partners, ensuring alignment with best practices and standards. The role requires effective collaboration with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders in a Joint Venture (JV) environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and execute the development and maintenance of process models using Aspen HYSYS, Unisim, and PIPESIM for gas processing systems.
Provide technical assurance and sign-off on process engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with Shell DEPs and international engineering standards.
Perform and review flare system, PSV, and blowdown calculations using Flarenet.
Oversee and conduct equipment sizing for compressors, pumps, air coolers, separators, tanks, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers with tools like HTRI.
Drive process optimisation across systems such as slug catchers, gas dehydration, condensate stabilisation, offshore/subsea facilities, and offsites.
Lead bottleneck analysis, identify capacity constraints, and recommend improvements.
Support and approve the Management of Change (MoC) processes for plant modifications.
Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, and QRA reviews to ensure safety compliance.
Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and design documentation.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, especially JV colleagues, fostering knowledge transfer and capability development.
Collaborate with operations teams to resolve production issues, minimise deferments, and enhance product quality.
Work closely with project teams, contractors, and JV stakeholders to meet technical and operational objectives.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
Minimum 13 years of experience in process engineering within upstream oil and gas.
Proven experience as a technical authority or in a senior technical leadership role.
Proficiency in Aspen HYSYS, Unisim, PIPESIM, Flarenet, HTRO and AutoCAD is plus.
Hands-on experience in process systems involving Compressors, pumps, air coolers, separators, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and pressure vessels.
Familiarity with slug catchers, gas dehydration, condensate stabilisation, and offshore/subsea systems.
Strong understanding of international process design codes and process safety standards.
Demonstrated ability to mentor, influence, and approve the work of other engineers, especially in a JV environment.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a Joint Venture environment, working with cross-functional teams and external contractors.
A proactive, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving with a focus on safety, cost-effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
Soft Skills for Success in a JV Environment
Leadership and Influence: Ability to lead technical discussions, mentor engineers, and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders.
Adaptability and Flexibility: The ability to navigate the complexities of working in a Joint Venture environment, managing diverse stakeholder expectations while balancing operational and safety goals.
Collaboration and Diplomacy: Strong interpersonal skills to work with different teams, contractors, and external partners in a multinational, cross-cultural setting.
Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise, and execute projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality.
Problem-solving Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying challenges and proposing innovative solutions.
Attention to Detail: Accuracy and thoroughness in engineering design, safety reviews, and process documentation.
Performance Measures
Successful completion of engineering tasks within the defined scope, cost, and schedule.
Effective support in optimising gas processing systems, contributing to cost reductions and safe, efficient production.
Contribution to plant reliability and asset integrity by addressing bottlenecks and improving process performance.
Demonstrated mentorship and capability development within the engineering team.
