Role Purpose:
The Process Safety Engineer will work within the UK Engineering team at the Llantrisant manufacturing site and will be responsible for leading, developing, and continuously improving the site’s Process Safety Management (PSM) framework. The role ensures that process safety risks are systematically identified, assessed, controlled, and monitored throughout the full lifecycle of manufacturing operations and capital projects.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
• Act as the site subject matter expert for Process Safety.
• Own all aspects of the site Process Safety Management lifecycle, from planning and hazard identification through to action close-out and performance monitoring.
• Develop, maintain, and deliver the annual Process Safety Plan, outlining structured, stepwise continuous improvements.
• Plan, lead, and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (HAZOP, What-If, LOPA), including preparation, documentation, and action close out.
• Drive all Process Hazard Analysis outcomes and recommendations to timely and effective closure.
• Lead and govern the site Management of Change (MoC) process, ensuring robust risk assessment and approval prior to any implementation of change.
• Develop, implement, and maintain process safety policies, standards, procedures, and guidance documents.
• Define, identify, and manage Safety Critical Elements (SCEs) and associated performance standards.
• Develop, track, and report site Process Safety KPIs to leadership.
• Deliver regular process safety training, updates, and presentations to site leadership and teams.
• Host and facilitate Process Safety Days and site engagement activities.
• Provide process safety input to capital and improvement projects, ensuring alignment with the Project Execution Process.
• Support and participate in investigations of process safety incidents, near misses, and learning implementation.
• Build effective working relationships with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers.
• Ensure alignment with Ecolab global engineering and process safety standards.
Qualifications & Experience
• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years’ industrial experience within a chemical or process manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrable experience facilitating or leading Process Hazard Analyses.
• HAZOP Facilitator training desirable.
• Strong understanding of process safety principles and risk management.
• Experience working with chemicals of varying hazards.
• High level of competency with Microsoft Office tools.
