At Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will play a vital role in our ambitious journey to develop and manufacture world-class Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API). Join our Cork site, where we produce APIs for clinical trials and approved medicines for critical diseases such as Cancer, Parkinson’s Disease, and Depression. This is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to our growing operations and innovative projects.
A day in the Life:
- Own the technical process and equipment: Develop deep understanding of plant processes, equipment, and facilities; establish and maintain tools/metrics to monitor key parameters; apply PPI methodology to track cycle time and standard work, driving continuous efficiency and performance improvements.
- Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting: Deliver on‑site technical assistance to meet customer needs and site metrics; lead and contribute to plant troubleshooting, technical investigations, product changeovers, cleaning calculations, and risk assessments; generate documentation to support process start‑ups.
- Lead technology transfer and engineering change control: Drive Engineering Technology Transfer activities and ensure successful transfer of product technical knowledge; manage engineering changes with safety and quality at the forefront, securing required approvals.
- Execute improvement and campaign learnings: Complete process engineering efficiency projects and conduct end‑of‑campaign after‑action reviews to capture findings and feed forward into future campaigns.
- Support commercial interfaces: Contribute to screening and quotation processes for the Cork site, aligning technical feasibility with customer and site objectives.
Keys to Success:
Education
- Honours degree qualified in Chemical/Processing Engineering
Experience
- Proven experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in pharmaceutical industry or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong understanding of process engineering principles and methodologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a group-focused setting.
