Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.

  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) (or as EIT)

  • 1 to 5 years of industrial experience (significant academic or internship projects will be considered).

  • Fluency in French and good communication skills in English (spoken and written).

  • Strong analytical mindset, professionalism, autonomy, and teamwork skills.

  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Familiarity with process simulation software (Aspen HYSYS, PipeFlo, HTRI) — an asset.

  • Experience in the petrochemical or refining industry — an asset.

 

Core Responsibilities:

As a Process Engineer, you will first work within the Process Engineering Department and may eventually transition to the Production Engineering team. In collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, Production Control, Automation, and other departments, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and improving processes for various refinery systems.

  • Performing or validating engineering calculations (hydraulics, control valve sizing, material and energy balances, etc.) throughout all project phases: feasibility studies, conceptual design, detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning.

  • Developing process models and simulations (HYSYS) to optimize unit performance.

  • Participating in project commissioning and supporting the transition to operations.

  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of work methods and procedures.

  • Ensuring that all activities comply with legal, regulatory, and corporate standards.

  • Preparing, updating, and ensuring the quality of technical documentation (P&ID, PFD, pressure vessel files, safety valve documentation, etc.).

  • Participating in process safety studies (PHA, What-if, DOW indices, RBI, etc.).

  • Evaluating process equipment performance (pumps, exchangers, furnaces) and conducting field surveys.

 

Work location and other details:

  • Location: Montreal Refinery (11701 Sherbrooke Street East). The role is primarily in-person, with limited remote flexibility.

  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the possibility of overtime based on operational needs.

  • Compensation: Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work.
