The responsibilities will include:
We are seeking a Process Development Technician, Biologics in our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia facility. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining fermentation and purification equipment in process development laboratories. This position will assist scientists during the hands-on process development activities, critical to advancing innovative biopharmaceutical programs. Will occasionally involve supporting GMP cell banking and pilot plant work activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Twelve hour rotating shifts. Days and nights.
Operating manual, electronic, pneumatic, or computerized laboratory process equipment with supervision according to work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure experiments are performed as designed in a non-GMP or GMP environment
Collecting, labelling, and performing testing on experimental samples aligned with work instructions
Monitoring experiments and identifying any issues. Supporting troubleshooting of the experiments with the tea
Ensuring the correct labeling of reagents and instrumentation in the PD laboratory
Reviewing work instructions prior to runs and assisting in writing SOP’s and data entry
Cleaning and organizing equipment and work area. Supporting lab organization (5S and inventory), as well as calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
Assisting in preparation, testing, and maintenance of cell banks, including occasional cleaning of cell banking lab in a GMP environment
Assisting the scientists and Manufacturing in supporting pilot plant operations when required
Complying with approved safety practices for the laboratory facility
Assisting in the troubleshooting of ongoing experiments to resolve unexpected challenges
Required:
Post Secondary Education in a scientific discipline
High attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality
Desired:
Bachelor of Science
Research Experience
Aseptic handling techniques, sampling, and the analysis of materials.
Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) experience
Previous relevant industry experience with microbial fermentation or protein purification
Aseptic handling techniques, sampling, and the analysis of materials
Excellent written and oral communication skills

This job has a full time weekly schedule.The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $16.79 - $29.39/hr CAD plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
