Process Control Engineer (Fault Detection)

As a Process Control Systems Engineer supporting the Fault Detection and Classification (FDC) Program, you will play a critical role in implementing real-time fault detection models that monitor the fab process and equipment health. The primary goal of our FDC systems is to proactively identify and reduce process variation, ensuring optimal equipment performance and process integrity.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with Process and Equipment Engineers to identify key sensors and features for monitoring and to drive automated closed-loop corrective actions. Your work will directly contribute to improving process and product quality and manufacturing efficiency. You will also partner regularly with cross-functional teams—including IT, Process Integration, and Data Science Teams—to design and deploy scalable control strategies that transition seamlessly from technology development to high-volume manufacturing.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement solutions to reduce process variation and develop systems that automate or simplify process control tasks

  • Identify process requirements to design and deliver decision logic

  • Write scripts to extract, shape and filter data for analysis to develop predictive and control models

  • Proficiency in one or more scripting/web development languages a plus (e.g. JMP, Python, Java, JS, TS)

  • Extracting data from different databases via SQL and other query languages and apply data cleansing, outlier identification, and missing data techniques

  • Organize tasks for maximum efficiency, incorporating department priorities

  • Coordinate and thoughtfully facilitate meetings and project teams; communicate complex analysis in a succinct and impactful manner

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field, or an equivalent Micron job standing of Engineer or higher is required.

  • 1-2 years of exposure to SPC through either academia or direct work experience

  • 1-2 years of experience with analytical problem-solving and data analysis skills

  • 1-2 years of experience developing, teaching, and presenting technical subjects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in software testing/verification is a plus

  • Experience in other PCS subjects is a plus; Fault Detection and Classification (FDC), Run-to-Run Control (R2R), Scheduling or Sampling, Process Metrology, and semiconductor process equipment interfaces

  • Semiconductor industry experience/knowledge
