About This Job
The main purpose of this job is to oversee and manage the investment team, manage complex client portfolios, and build meaningful relationships, by providing comprehensive investment planning and managing the day-to-day administration of client accounts. Develop investment strategies and manage client portfolios according to established goals and objectives, and in accordance with all internal and regulatory investment and fiduciary guidelines.
Essential Functions
Manage client portfolios and administer client accounts within prescribed investment and fiduciary guidelines, governing document, FineMark policies and procedures and all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
Manage client relationships with an emphasis on prudent fiduciary risk management, relationship growth and exceeding client expectations. Provide high value, meaningful client interactions. Identify opportunities for business referrals and take appropriate action. Includes appropriate team members in relationship management efforts. Participate in relationship reviews and investment reviews. Document client communications and interactions in Salesforce.
Analyze clients’ complete financial picture and work with clients to develop a comprehensive understanding of their unique investment goals and objectives to construct individually tailored investment portfolios consistent with client goals and objectives
Work with clients to develop comprehensive wealth management strategies
Determine client’s risk profile and educate the client about investment risks and the risk/reward tradeoff
Create an appropriate investment portfolio ensuring implementation and execution of investment strategies to maximize returns commensurate with an acceptable level of risk
Ensure accounts are structured to comply with client’s investment policy statement and correspond with current investment strategy; include a transition plan when appropriate
Provide ongoing client communication, monitoring and rebalancing of portfolio to ensure goals and objectives meet potentially changing client circumstances, adjusting plans and strategies as circumstances change
Confer with others on investment team to determine consequences of investment decisions to resolve any account deficiencies /problems and makes appropriate corrections
Continuously perform investment research, stays informed of developments in security markets, stay abreast of current economic environment and maintain current knowledge of regulations, fiduciary law and tax law
Work as part of a team to deliver clients a diverse set of financial solutions, maximize relationships and develop new relationships
Provide ongoing monitoring and rebalancing of portfolios to ensure client goals and objectives are met
Successfully cultivate new client relationships, actively participate and engage in business development activities. Prospect new clients, secure additional assets from existing clients and uncover other opportunities to maximize relationships
Lead, mentor and motivate team members to implement the department strategy and manage department workflow with guidance on departmental projects/issues, and provide coaching and development opportunities appropriate to each direct report's individual needs
Perform all necessary management functions, including hiring, evaluations, annual increase allocations and disciplinary action as required
Communicate decisions, priorities and relevant information to team members effectively
Support budget management, planning and expenditure
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Strong knowledge of the investment field, including knowledge of best practices
Working knowledge of portfolio theory with understanding of fiduciary law
Exceptional relationship management skills and the ability to serve on various internal investment committees
Ability to lead round table discussions and investment seminars
Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and meet Commerce Bank’s driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to apply discretion and sound judgement to efficiently and effectively solve problems
Ability to drive results and balance management of organizational risk and meeting goals of the business
Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate team members and foster a positive team environment that gives way to collaboration and unified goals
Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the company, clearly expressing ideas and concepts both verbally and in writing

Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master’s degree in Business preferred.
15+ years experience successfully managing investment portfolios for a wealth management company required
7+ years of investment leadership/supervisory experience required
Asset allocation process experience required
Experience with Salesforce preferred
Professional certifications such as CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or CFP (Certified Financial Planner) preferred
