OVERVIEW

The Private Credit Operations Lead will be responsible for executing and supporting all operational activities within the private credit and commercial real estate debt deal execution/settlement process, and lifecycle management (coupon/principal/fee payments), along with other corporate actions.  This role will present the opportunity to work with multiple teams across the firm, including investments, private investment valuation, investment product and fund services, legal & compliance, tax, and information technology to develop and integrate private credit and commercial real estate debt data & workflows into an existing private credit operating model.  Additionally, the Lead will play a critical role in the development and enhancement of core operational processes and controls, as well as in training and mentoring junior members of the team.  The ideal candidate has deep expertise in supporting life cycle events for various private credit strategies, including investment grade private placements, direct and venture lending, specialty finance, and commercial real estate debt.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support all aspects of loan administration as a Senior member of a dedicated operations team supporting several private credit and real estate strategies, including investment grade private placements, growth lending, commercial real estate debt, and specialty finance.
  • Assist portfolio management teams with closing activities and the coordination of transaction activity across portfolio management, fund administrators, agents, and loan administration service providers
  • Provide oversight of daily operations activities at external service providers to ensure timely and accurate asset servicing on internal and third-party platforms.  This will include the setup of new issuer/deal records, credit facilities/securities, new trade/issuance booking, guideline monitoring, lifecycle activity, corporate actions, collateral & covenant monitoring, periodic reconciliations, and final disposition of all portfolio holdings.
  • Analyze complex credit/note purchase agreements and identify critical attributes necessary to operationalize each deal we invest in.
  • Understand investment guidelines across multiple client relationships and act as first line of defense for pre- and post-trade compliance monitoring.
  • Participate in third party vendor outsourcing assessments and on-boarding, as well as continuously evaluate in-source/out-source decisions as the platform grows
  • Maintain data oversight of internal and external asset record keeping.  Design and provide ad-hoc and standard reports by slicing data and presenting several outcomes for internal stakeholders and clients
  • Lead projects for automation and process improvements related to loan closings, trade workflow, deal tracking, position reconciliations, and cash management.  Participate in cross-functional projects including third-party service provider and technology vendor evaluation, & technology implementation.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and industry best practices (LSTA) for loan, credit, and debt securities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7-10 years of experience with demonstrated deep expertise in private direct lending administration and supporting private credit strategies, including investment grade private placements, direct and venture lending, specialty finance, and commercial real estate debt
  • Experience with industry technology and platforms used in supporting private credit and real estate strategies such as IVP (Indus Valley Partners), Sentry-PM, Allvue, IHS Markit-WSO/ClearPar; CBRE, Citus, Midland, Bellwether, and Geneva.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and accountability executing against a strategic vision, including integrating the use of third-party service providers into the overall support function
  • Highly collaborative working style, willing to roll up sleeves and dig in to solve problems independently and as part of a broader team
  • Strong business, critical, and analytical thinking capabilities with excellent writing and oral communication skills
  • Must be detail-oriented while able to consider the bigger picture and quick to understand and apply new concepts in a high-performing environment
  • Highly effective change-agent who is constantly assessing where processes can be improved, and embraces change and flexibility
  • Demonstrated organizational, project, and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and handle competing and changing priorities with tight deadlines
  • Strong academic credentials, MBA/CPA/CFA/CAIA preferred

Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:

USD 120,000 - 225,000

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.   

 

Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
