The Privacy & Access Consultant is responsible for receiving and processing all access to information requests under Saskatchewan’s The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPP) and The Health Information Protection Act (HIPA), British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
This role monitors compliance with the mandatory privacy and ethics training modules, provides statistics for reporting and provides assistance with the overall privacy program administration.
Note: This position will have access to sensitive personal, personal health, corporate, and employee information. The position will also be exposed to issues pertaining to breach of privacy matters that could lead to employee disciplinary measures up to and including dismissal.

Access to Information
Interprets privacy legislation and processes the access to information requests under applicable provincial and federal legislation. This involves reviewing and clarifying requests, determining whether information should be withheld or released, coordinating collection of all responsive records, responding to the applicant, and escalating questions or concerns.
Determines and calculates applicable fees.
Processes requests for information from external offices including Maintenance Enforcement, Canada Revenue Agency, bankruptcy and insolvency trustees, and outside counsel for information in ongoing litigation.
Provides advice and direction to business areas related to access and disclosure of personal information.
Drafts responses to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) in the applicable jurisdiction for customer access requests or OIPC investigations or reviews pursuant to applicable provincial or federal legislation.
Privacy and Information Management Program Administration
Organize and coordination activities to foster information privacy and information management awareness within the Corporation.
Advocates positive change within the corporation to ensure compliance with privacy policies and legislative requirements and reduce the privacy risk.
Provides support to the Chief Privacy Officer and Ethics Advisor by drafting letters, managing deadlines, and coordinating formal responses to privacy regulators.
Monitors compliance with mandatory privacy, ethics, and information training. This includes ensuring 100% compliance by collecting and analyzing reports, communicating with employees and managers, and escalating issues when appropriate.
Provides statistical reports to the Chief Privacy Officer and Ethics Advisor or General Counsel, as requested.

Education and Experience
Information Access and Protection of Privacy (IAPP) Certificate or other industry recognized privacy and access certificate
Three years’ experience in processing access to information requests.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of privacy legislation and best practices, including Saskatchewan’s FOIPP and HIPA, British Columbia’s PIPA, Alberta’s PIPA, and Canada’s PIPEDA.
Ability to write and communicate clearly, concisely and targeted to the audience, including clarifying requests.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize requests, with strict attention to detail and accuracy.
Knowledge of investigative techniques.
