Major Duties:

  • Serve as a Work Leader for a team of Printing Plant Workers’ Materials Handlers.
  • Develop inventory plans storage and arrangement by agency regulations, to determine the configuration setup, movement, rearrangement, and traffic flow.
  • Operate material handling equipment, lifts, pallet jacks, labor savers, low lift walkers, electric and manual hoisting equipment, high forklift trucks, and tractors to move various items.
  • Use a computer to prepare inventory and production reports, screen, identify shipping and receiving documents’ verifications, and direct shipments to appropriate areas.
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing reports to coworkers and supervisors.,

The screen-out element for this position is: The Ability to do Lead or Supervise: These duties include: 1) leading Printing Plant Workers by providing guidance and direction to accomplish work involving the receipt, storage and distribution of bulk and less than bulk materials, supplies, and paper; (2) initiating work and ensuring instructions and information received is relayed to workers; (3) distributing tasks and workload to lower level PPW's; and (4) demonstrating proper work methods and techniques to subordinates. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
