Principal Manufacturing Engineer
Cooling performance limits AI infrastructure, semiconductor equipment, photonics, power electronics, defense systems, and other high-powered compute applications. The Stack Forging™process, creates single-piece, leak-tight metal parts with complex internal microgeometries for stronger cooling performance, lower pressure drop, and high reliability.
This role generally requires 4 days onsite per week.
What You’ll Do
As a Principal Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for the specification, development, and commissioning manufacturing equipment for testing cold plates and producing products at scale. You will report to the Sr. Manager of the Machines team and lead a cross-functional program team dedicated to scaling up the manufacturing line for thermal management offerings.
Who You Are
You are a seasoned manufacturing professional and take pride in the quality and reliability of the system you build. You are driven and hands on, and can confidently navigate the question of what to build yourself and what to outsource. You want to know how the systems you are responsible for work, because you believe that is the only way to know that you’ve done things correctly.
Responsibilities
Manufacturing system design: Design, develop, and commission scalable assembly systems for high-volume thermal system production.
Testing system development: Develop and implement automated testing systems (e.g., performance, reliability, and leak testing) for coldplates and thermal systems.
Vendor selection and management: Own the technical selection, procurement, and qualification of high-value capital equipment required for automated testing and assembly.
Program management: Lead the manufacturing scale-up project for thermal system production, including defining resourcing, setting timelines, and establishing milestones.
Technical leadership: Act as a subject matter expert on manufacturing for coldplates and thermal systems. Set and maintain the technical standards for manufacturing quality, process control (e.g., PFMEAs), and reliability.
Mentorship: Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, production engineers, and production staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or a related Engineering field.
8+ years of experience in manufacturing
3+ years of experience with commissioning capital equipment
2+ years of experience with thermal-fluid systems
Preferred Skills
Proven expertise with Lean Manufacturing principles.
Direct experience with metal joining and fitting processes, preferably in a thermal management context.
Experience in high-volume mass production environments (e.g., automotive, consumer electronics, or high-power computing/data center).
Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
Proficiency with 3D software tools for design, inspection, or CAM.
