Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is currently seeking Designers to support our Tooling Engineering team at our Bacchus (Magna), Utah facility.
The candidate will be responsible for concept development, modeling design, and the creation of fabrication drawings for tooling and support equipment used in Solid Rocket Motor applications.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Create 3D models and 2D drawings to be used in the manufacturing of new tooling, to support the production of rocket motors.
- Create effective and safe equipment that is used to manufacture, test, qualify, and transport rocket motors or rocket motor components.
- Interface with review team to ensure customer satisfaction with design.
- Work with internal Customers to concept needed support equipment for new and existing programs.
- Developing tooling concepts, creating/reviewing, and improving manufacturing processes to meet Customer requirements.
- Work closely with Tool Engineers to create models and final drawings.
- Understand/monitor cost and schedule.
- Review engineering drawings and designs for manufacturability.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Design or related technical field
- Minimum 5 years of technical experience in design and fabrication of special tooling and related equipment; 3 years of experience with a MASTER’s degree.
- CAD modeling and 2D drafting experience. Siemens NX/Teamcenter preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018).
- Knowledge and application of drawing weld symbols and application of AWS (American Weld Society) specifications.
- Knowledge of applicable OSHA Safety Standards.
Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
