Description:
We are seeking a talented individual to join our market‑leading Surety Practice at Marsh. This role will be based in Sydney (other locations may be considered). This is a hybrid role that requires working at least three days a week in the office.
Role overview
As Principal, Surety Team, you will manage and grow a portfolio of corporate clients by arranging guarantee facilities that support business‑critical needs. You will build trusted relationships with treasurers and CFOs and apply expertise in trade finance and corporate/project/infrastructure finance to drive business growth and strengthen client retention.
We will count on you to:
- Retain and grow a portfolio of mid‑to‑large corporate accounts.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, developing and managing senior relationships (treasurers, CFOs).
- Collaborate across practices and offices to pursue and win new business opportunities.
- Lead planning and execution of strategies to meet client expectations and expand your portfolio.
- Understand clients’ businesses, risk management and financial needs in depth.
- Manage revenue and expense budgets to contribute to company profit objectives.
What you need to have:
- At least six years’ experience managing corporate client portfolios and driving business growth.
- Familiarity with financial‑statement analysis and debt structures.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and strong knowledge of business, finance and accounting; ideally experience with bank guarantees and surety bonds.
- Strong commercial acumen and awareness of macroeconomic factors affecting client sectors.
- Proven or emerging business development capability.

- Familiarity with bank guarantees and surety bonds.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently at C‑suite level and with internal Marsh teams.
