The Processing, Guidance and Controls (PG&C) Center within the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) Discipline consists of Guidance, Navigation and Control; Signal Processing; and Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis disciplines for Effectors.

The Signal Processing team is seeking Principal Systems Engineer – Radar Seeker Lead for the Land and Air Defense Systems portfolio.

As the Principal Systems Engineer – Radar Seeker Lead, you will lead the design, development, integration, and testing of Radar seeker subsystems. You will provide technical leadership, cross-discipline collaboration, expertise for radar system hardware and software, and system modeling to meet system requirements and program milestones. This is an onsite position located in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do

  • You will lead the design, development, and integration of radar seeker subsystems across missile platforms, including managing requirements and architecting solutions that balance system parameters and performance metrics
  • You will use and modify simulations for the design, development, prototyping, integration, testing, and performance assessment of radar seeker software and models for seeker hardware, radar algorithms, electromagnetic propagation, and target signatures
  • You will engage in supplier technical oversight including Supplier Statements of Work, technical meetings with vendors, and managing the timeline for delivery of products meeting standards for quality and readiness for integration.
  • You will focus on test strategy and execution, including leading integration, test, data analysis, and failure analysis investigations across lab and field environments
  • You will coordinate and interface with staff from System Integration & Test; Systems Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Electrical Engineering; and Processing, Guidance & Controls
  • You will maintain seeker subsystem documentation (requirements, interface control documents, verification matrices) and prepare technical briefings, executive summaries, and decision packages for internal and external stakeholders
  • You will share your knowledge and mentor multiple team members

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience in two or more of the following:
    • Radar device development cycle from modeling through manufacture
    • Radar seeker system and subsystem design, development, and integration
    • Theory and simulation of electromagnetic field propagation
    • Radar signal processing
  • Experience using MATLAB or Python for analysis of data sets
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret U.S. government issued Security Clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain special program access after start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related discipline
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities, time, and resources to consistently meet demanding schedules
  • Strong communication skills, capable of presenting analysis to technical and non-technical audiences and advocating for best solutions and strategy
  • Experience with hardware/software integration
  • Experience managing, leading, or mentoring others in a technical and/or functional capacity within an engineering environment
  • Ability to interface with adjacent engineering disciplines

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
