Northrop Grumman Mission Systems' Baltimore and Partnered Sites (BaPs) division is seeking a Systems Integration and Test Engineer in Baltimore, MD.

As a Principal Engineer Systems (I&T) at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Cross-Domain Handling of RF Communication Antenna Subsystems for the Baltimore and Partnered Sites (BaPs) division and ACA Operation Unit (OU).

What You’ll get to Do:

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Expect to perform integration and test for a variety of ACA systems and programs. Each program has varying deadlines, so be prepared to work fluid and fast between the efforts. Expect to work on both the RF interface on the front-end of a subsystem and utilize the software regressively on the back-end. Perform a variety of software test suites and develop plans to test the systems at a high level and work with a variety of engineering disciplines at a low level. Be prepared to work with various leads to complete a task and be very communicative to your team. Have customer integration skills and be intimate with varying customer teams.  

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field and 5 years of related technical experience; Master’s degree in a STEM field and 3 years of related technical experience, or PHD in a STEM field and 1 year of related technical experience. 4 years of additional experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain/maintain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start is required.
  • 3 or more years’ experience software and systems integration and test.
  • Knowledge of RF communication protocols and modulation schemes (e.g., SATCOM, UHF/VHF, L‑band, C‑band, S‑band).
  • Familiarity with MIL‑STD regulations related to RF emissions and testing (e.g., MIL‑STD‑461, MIL‑STD‑464).
  • Experience testing software and firmware for communication subsystems and developing formal test plans, test procedures, and test reports to verify and validate software requirements.
  • Experience working with customer and performing operations, “demos” at customer site, and/or data analysis for a customer.
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile principles, tools and implementation.
  • Demonstrated Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Baltimore, MD.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A current DoD Top Secret Clearance.
  • Experience working for on a SAP-level program
  • Experience leading and overseeing integration and test efforts
  • Experience testing and integrating RF Communication Antenna subsystems.
  • Experience working with customers and platform integration.
  • Experience validating and verifying compliance to MIL Standards.
  • Experience developing scripts in python to automate manual processes.
  • Experience supporting system development and understanding of system development lifecycle.
  • Proven experience in hardware‑software integration, including the deployment, configuration, and validation of software on customer hardware platforms.

This position is contingent upon the successful transfer of DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain/maintain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
