Principal Systems Engineer

As a Principal Systems Engineer at Baxter, you will play a key role in the sustainment of currently marketed and new product development products within the Front-Line Care Connected Monitoring portfolio. The role will have responsibility for systems and risk activities and ownership for NPD products within the portfolio. The research we do and the products we develop improve outcomes for patients around the world. As a Principal Systems Engineer at Baxter, your work contributes directly to making a significant impact on others. Its challenging work—and you're not on your own. Your Team

Scientists and engineers in R&D work together to develop, test, and launch products that improve patient care. As the Principal Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the systems and risk role of the Baxter Front Line Care Connected Patient Monitoring products throughout the on-market product lifecycle!
What you'll be doing
Translate customer needs, business constraints, and regulatory requirements into product functional and performance system requirements.
Conduct risk management activities including planning, risk analysis, risk evaluation and control.
Decompose and allocate system level requirements into module level requirements.
Plan and oversee reliability and robustness activities.
Lead the technical team through technical risk identification and management as well as issue and test defect resolution.
Ensure changes are analyzed holistically and impacts are fully understood.
What you'll bring
Bachelor’s Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Software Engineering or comparable technical discipline)
5+ years of engineering experience
Knowledge in ISO 14971 Application of Risk Management to Medical Devices
Knowledge in IEC 62304 and IEC/TR 80002-1.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaboratively with others in a team environment.
Able to work in the absence of complete information and make timely decisions.
Excellent verbal and written communication
Strategic thinker but can execute with great attention to detail.
Organized and able to progress on many different tasks in parallel.
Proficient problem-solving skills
Able to plan, estimate and accurately track deliverables.
Fundamental understanding of HW and SW engineering disciplines
Able to write clear, concise, and verifiable requirements.
Adaptive, open to change and continuously looks for ways to improve and simplify complex work.
We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $112,000 to $154,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
