Position Overview

The Principal Systems Analyst, Lab Business Systems is a senior individual contributor who provides deep technical expertise, strategic insight, and cross-functional leadership to advance the digital capabilities that support Exact Sciences’ laboratory operations. This role strengthens the Lab Business Systems team by guiding the design, integration, enhancement, and governance of LIS/LIMS, Quality systems, workflow solutions, and master data. As a trusted technical advisor, the Principal leads complex initiatives and influences system direction in collaboration with Clinical Operations, R&D, QA, Regulatory Affairs, and IT.

This position is field based in Madison, WI.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serve as a senior subject matter expert for LIS/LIMS, Quality systems, workflow design, and master data governance, advising on system architecture, integration needs, and best practices.
  • Lead complex initiatives including requirements definition, workflow mapping, process optimization, validation strategy, and user readiness planning.
  • Collaborate with IT and laboratory stakeholders to evaluate system capabilities, identify integration opportunities, and recommend enhancements aligned with operational, regulatory, and business needs.
  • Provide functional and technical direction to project teams to ensure solutions align with operational objectives and quality standards.
  • Support digital adoption and change management by educating stakeholders and communicating system impacts.
  • Analyze system performance and data flow issues, identifying risks and escalating concerns that may affect compliance or operational throughput.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate and prioritize system improvements based on business value, technical feasibility, and user needs.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of working time. May include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to essential duties; or Associates Degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • 12 years of experience in laboratory operations, laboratory informatics, digital systems, or related field outlined in the essential duties.
  • 5 years of experience working with LIS/LIMS or Quality systems in laboratory environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives through influence, collaboration, and expertise.
  • Experience in workflow design, process optimization, or operational excellence methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Legal authorization to work in the country of employment without current or future sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, Laboratory Medicine or Biomedical Informatics
  • Experience in regulated laboratory environments (e.g., CLIA, CAP, ISO 13485). 
  • Experience supporting LIS/LIMS implementations or enhancements. 
  • Experience with Computer Systems Validation and change control processes. 
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification 
  • Strong project management skills and familiarity with laboratory workflow automation.

Salary Range:

$133,000.00 - $226,000.00

 

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
