Job Description
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking self-motivated, hard-working full-time Principal Systems Administrator 3 for the NATO AGS Program at NAS Sigonella (Sicily). The selected candidate will provide on-site network infrastructure support to routing and switching equipment, firewalls and IDS/IPS, and associated cabling.

The Principal Systems Administrator 3 will ensure that the LAN/WAN is capable of providing required services by supporting the network infrastructure through the use of troubleshooting and problem resolution in a production environment. Provides daily operational support for LAN/WAN networks, including firewalls. Plans, installs and supports hardware and software upgrades; resolves technical issues associated with network and routing protocols at all levels of the OSI model through the use of diagnostics and network administration tools such as Hewlett Packard (HP) OpenView, Cisco Works and Tivoli.

An understanding of Management Information Blocks (MIB) and MRTG to measure, plan and execute methodologies to ensure high performance levels and minimum downtime.

Responsible for maintaining LAN – WAN barrier systems to prevent unauthorized access. In order to meet these requirements, the Network Administrator must be familiar with Cisco firewalls, Cisco, Alcatel, Hewlett-Packard, Nortel and NetScreen VPN devices and IDSs.

Uses diagnostic utilities to identify and isolate problems encountered on different mediums and network protocols, gather latency statistics and find specific network bottlenecks, evaluate problems and implement fix actions through device reconfiguration or replacement depending on the circumstances.


Provide On-the-Job Training and platform instruction to NATO AGS and NG customer when required.

Basic Qualifications for a Level: 

-Bachelor's Degree with 5 years experience OR 9 years of directly applicable experience may be considered in lieu of the completed degree.

-Must have an active Top Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)

-Able to commit to a 2 year overseas assignment

-Must have strong network experience maintaining Cisco switches and routers, and trouble-shooting general LAN/WAN problems

-Must have good knowledge on general security methodologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS and access control lists

Primary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
