Principal, Strategic Contracting

Position Summary:

The Principal, Strategic Contracting is a senior, expert-level negotiator responsible for personally leading the company's most critical and complex provider contract negotiations. This individual will serve as the lead negotiator for Tier 1 health systems and other strategically vital provider partners, leveraging deep financial acumen and industry expertise to structure innovative, value-based agreements. This role is focused on driving significant financial and strategic outcomes through expert negotiation, sophisticated analysis, and C-suite relationship management. Success in this role is built on deep, trust-based relationships with our provider partners. Therefore, a core requirement of this position is residence within one of our key markets (IL, KY, AR, or MO) to ensure a consistent and impactful in-market presence.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Personally own and lead the full lifecycle of high-stakes, multi-year contract negotiations with the company's largest and most complex health system partners.
  • Develop and execute sophisticated, data-driven negotiation strategies to secure best-in-class terms, with a heavy focus on advancing value-based care models.
  • Serve as the lead subject matter expert and internal consultant on complex reimbursement methodologies, risk arrangements, and negotiation tactics, working with complete latitude for independent judgment.
  • Create, analyze, and present complex financial models to justify negotiation positions and demonstrate the financial impact of proposed terms to executive leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong, influential peer-to-peer relationships with C-suite and senior executives at major provider organizations, acting as a distinguished representative of the company.
  • This is a senior individual contributor leadership role with no direct reports.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in managed care contracting, with a demonstrated track record of personally leading and winning multi-million dollar negotiations with major hospital systems.
  • Recognized as an expert in Medicare Advantage risk arrangements, including capitation, global risk, and shared savings models.
  • Proven ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, influence business decisions, and be accountable for financial results.
  • Exceptional financial modeling and analytical skills are required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred.

Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay rate include your specific skills, experience, qualifications, location, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to the base salary, certain roles may qualify for a performance-based incentive and/or equity, with eligibility depending on the position. These rewards are based on a combination of company performance and individual achievements.

The hiring range for this position is:

$98,400.00-$132,225.00
