Brief Description of Role  

The US Payroll organization is seeking a Payroll Overpayment Analyst (P3) to support end-to-end overpayment process management and ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and a positive employee experience. This role conducts detailed case research, evaluates earning and taxation impacts, processes payroll corrections, records payment transactions, partners with both internal and external stakeholders, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.


What You Will do:

  • Overpayment Case Management
  • Research and validate employee overpayments, including root cause, timing, and earnings/tax impacts.
  • Process payroll corrections, retro entries, and other adjustment transactions in accordance with US Payroll policy.
  • Draft and issue employee communications outlining overpayment determinations and repayment expectations.
  • Partner with Payroll Operations and Payroll Benefits to coordinate recovery actions for active employees.
  • Maintain clear, accurate case documentation to support audits, internal controls, and reporting requirements.
  • Analysis, Compliance & Audit Support
  • Perform taxation reviews related to overpayments and assist with amendment processes.
  • Support the Overpayment Receivable (OPR) process, including reconciliations and reporting.
  • Support SOX controls, audit testing, and validation of key payroll reports.
  • Develop, maintain, and update desktop procedures (DTPs).
  • Vendor & Automation Support
  • Work with the external overpayment and collections vendors to resolve case questions and discrepancies.
  • Monitor outputs from automation tools (e.g., BOT processing) and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Employee & Business Partner Support
  • Respond to employee inquiries and escalations regarding overpayment cases.
  • Provide documentation and case updates to HR, Finance, and other business stakeholders.
  • Support leadership reporting and government-required reporting related to overpayments.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Identify recurring overpayment themes or trends and escalate insights to leadership.
  • Participate in process improvement efforts, automation initiatives, and system enhancement activities that improve overall payroll accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • This role typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field  and 5 years of US payroll experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience with ADP GlobalView, ADP EV5, or similar payroll systems.
  • At least 3 years of payroll overpayment experience to include but not limited to overpayment case management, researching and validating employee overpayments, root cause identification, processing payroll corrections, retro entries, and other adjustment transactions in accordance with US Payroll policy.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • US Payroll overpayment experience with late terminations, transfers, LOA, duplicate payments, bonus, retention Bonus, relocation (active), sign-On bonus (active),severance
  • Strong knowledge of payroll calculations, earnings, deductions, and taxation.
  • Ability to analyze payroll data and identify discrepancies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with large datasets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently on moderately complex issues.
  • Familiarity with BOT tools and workflow automation.
  • Experience with SOX controls or payroll PPV audit processes.  
  • Experience partnering with external vendors.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
