Job Description
As an Engineer 5, you will partner with Comcast Business Product, Xfinity Mobile, and CB technology organizations to architect, design, and implement solutions for the next phases of the CB Mobile journey. This role combines deep hands-on engineering with end-to-end architectural ownership across complex, distributed back-office systems
Responsibilities:
- Partner with CB Product, Operations, and BIT/Residential Platform teams to architect, solution, and deliver new CB Mobile features and functionality across end-to-end back-office systems.
- Serve as the architectural lead for initiatives, owning solution design, system boundaries, integration patterns, and non-functional requirements such as scalability, resiliency, and security.
- Remain hands-on with complex technical design and implementation, including critical integrations, proofs of concept, and high-risk or high-impact system components.
- Ensure solutions are well engineered, operable, maintainable, and aligned with architectural intent by reviewing designs and influencing code-level decisions where appropriate.
- Define, document, and promote best practices including system design patterns, platform and framework considerations, and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with BIT Technical Program Owners to ensure solution designs are complete, consistent, and aligned from intake through delivery, minimizing re-work and downstream risk.
- Monitor and evaluate current and emerging technology trends, including cloud services and AI/ML, and apply them where they deliver measurable business value.
- Mentor engineers and architects in architectural thinking, system design, and implementation best practices.
- Contribute to enterprise architecture strategy, participate in architecture forums, and communicate technology direction across organizations.
- Apply new and innovative ideas to complex problems and contribute to intellectual property development, including patents where applicable.
- Consistently exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of technical and architectural significance.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with demonstrated progression into senior technical leadership or architecture roles.
- Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale, distributed systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with system integration, APIs, and data flows across multiple applications and platforms.
- Ability to operate effectively at both detailed technical and high-level architectural layers.
- Experience influencing technical direction across multiple teams without direct authority.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have Skills:
- XM/CBM Mobile Design and Architecture: Experience defining and implementing back-office solutions for mobile products such as CB Mobile, Xfinity Mobile, or other carrier platforms.
- End-to-End Integration: Experience solutioning complex integration requirements across multiple enterprise applications.
- Network and Connectivity: Understanding of mobile network architectures and connectivity solutions.
- Cloud Services: Experience with cloud-native services and infrastructure.
- Security: Knowledge of mobile and platform security standards and best practices.
