Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Scrum Master. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel SEIT PEO directorate.
As a Principal Scrum Master, from the SDS Engineering Functional Homeroom, you will be expected to support large-scale, complex projects from inception to completion that span across functional organizations. Your daily mission is to enable high performing Scrum teams, uphold Agile best practice, and keep delivery flowing toward our business objectives.
You will be expected to facilitate scrum ceremonies, maintain sprint backlogs, remove impediments, support/coach/mentor the team, track and report metrics, facilitate communication, promote a culture of inspection & adaptation. Additionally, you will be expected to know, understand and leverage agile performance data—such as story-point velocity, sprint burndown, and cumulative-flow metrics—to populate and align with the program’s Earned Value Management (EVM) system, thereby providing transparent, data-driven insight into cost and schedule performance and enabling proactive program, as well as other duties as necessary.
For your daily tasks and direction, you will report to your Assignment Manager. Your Assignment Manager, will expect you too effectively:
• Perform or support Agile events (i.e. Daily Scrum, Planning, Backlog Refinement, ...)
• Perform or support Agile coaching (i.e. reinforce Agile principles, Definition of Done, ...)
• Perform or support Jira management (i.e. establish boards, metrics, reporting, ...)
• Perform or support Earned Value Management tasks/activities.
• Perform or support Risk, Issue, Opportunity (RIO) tasks/activities.
• Perform or support other tasks/activities required to meet contractual or programmatic requirements.
• Proficient in Jira, with proven experience designing and configuring custom Scrum, Kanban, and PI boards to support team workflows and Program Increment planning.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Scrum Master: 5 years with Bachelor’s in related field of study, 3 years with Masters, 1 year with PhD.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with a US Department of War (DoW) Secret security clearance.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain additional program accesses as necessary.
• Must be a professionally certified Scrum Master.
• Must have experience as a Scrum Master in either: Engineering, Software, or IT/Cyber Operations.
• Must have knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, or scaling frameworks (SAFe, LeSS, Nexus, etc.).
• Must have experience in Agile tools: JIRA, Confluence, MS Project, and MS Excel.
• Must have experience in communication, conflict-resolution, and stakeholder-management.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification in SAFe Agile Methodologies
• Familiarity with Lean practices
• Demonstrated experience using agile derived metrics (such as story points) to integrate with a program’s Earned Value Management (EVM) system, enabling accurate cost schedule performance tracking and effective program control.
• Demonstrated experience with risk and opportunity management.
• Demonstrated capability of working with minimal direction to provide and implement solutions to advanced problems which require pragmatism, ingenuity and innovation to solve.
Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
